On display at CP Plus 2015, in Japan, was the latest hard drive from WD: the My Passport Wireless in 1TB or 2TB capacities. These portable hard drives offer not only wireless connections to smart devices for direct streaming from the drives, but an SD card slot for automatic storage of images when the card is inserted. It also offers USB 3.0 compatibility for fast transfer. The drive allows up to eight users, simultaneously, to access files stored on the drive, and up to four HD videos can be streamed concurrently. Cameras that have built-in Wi-Fi can send images directly to the drive. It's compatible with iOS and Android, as well as Mac and Windows, although it is preset to Windows. A Wi-Fi password and the Drive Lock system protect your files from unauthorized access in both wireless and USB modes. The drives themselves are, indeed, lightweight and portable—they measure just 5 x 3 x 1.2" and their rechargeable battery provides up to six hours of streaming and can be recharged via the USB connection.
The My Passport Ultras have a sleek metal design and come in a range of colors. They are available in 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB capacities, have a USB 3.0 port, password protection, and hardware encryption to safeguard your files.
