Working to flesh out its line of optics for T-system cameras, Leica has just revealed the APO-Macro-Elmarit-TL 60mm f/2.8 ASPH. This lens becomes the first 1:1 macro with a native L bayonet mount, meaning it offers autofocus and works on the T and SL, though it will only cover an APS-C image area. Providing a slight telephoto perspective, thanks to its 90mm equivalent focal length, this lens should be well suited to macro work and portraiture. Also, its apochromatic design guarantees clean and clear imagery with an absolute minimum of color fringing and other aberrations.

As we have come to expect from a Leica lens, this 60mm macro is designed for excellent optical performance. It incorporates four aspherical elements in its 10-element, 9-group design to minimize aberrations. Also, its relatively fast f/2.8 maximum aperture makes it useful in low light and in creating images with shallow depth of field. In order to achieve its 1:1 magnification, the lens is designed to focus as close as 6.3", with a working distance of just 2.4". Also, it boasts smooth and precise focusing with full-time manual override. Internal focusing further assists macro shooters by ensuring the overall length of the lens does not change during use.

This lens is built to Leica’s standards in Wetzlar, Germany, from high-quality glass and metal. Also, it features a non-rotating 60mm front filter thread and comes with an aluminum lens hood. It will be available in black and silver.
