Manfrotto is announcing a comprehensive stability system for hybrid creators with the release of three new products: the ONE Tripod, the 500X Fluid Head, and the XCHANGE Quick Release base and plate. Together, they form an integrated solution to problems posed by today’s hybrid mirrorless environment, combining speed, efficiency, versatility, and portability for professionals whose workflow depends upon seamless transitions between photo and video setups.
The centerpiece is the ONE Tripod, which, as the name suggests, intends to obsolesce the need to carry multiple tripods for multiple uses. To this end, the modular tripod column is designed with dual versatility in mind, including innovative leveling and flay-lay capabilities, a smooth sliding mechanism, and the option to detach the column for ground-level perspectives. Manfrotto’s patented XTEND technology deploys all three legs simultaneously, saving crucial time in set up.
The tripod, which comes in both aluminum and carbon fiber builds, reaches a maximum working height of 67.1” and comes with pre-set leg angles, a carry handle, and modular feet options with separately available accessories.
Augmenting the versatility of the tripod is the 500X Fluid Head, designed specifically for mirrorless camera users who require precision in hybrid applications. Its 11 lb payload can handle most camera-and-lens combinations, providing smooth and controlled movements with the integrated panning handle, the fluid drag system on both pan and tilt with independent locks, and 5.3 lb of counterbalance. The head comes with Manfrotto’s 501PL quick release plate which, when mounted, can be rotated 90° for quick landscape-to-portrait orientation adjustments.
The 500X Fluid Head has a 60mm flat base with direct compatibility to the XCHANGE quick release plate and base, along with a 3/8”-16 thread for direct mounting onto compatible screws.
The system’s connective tissue, the XCHANGE quick release plate and base allows users to quickly switch among cameras, heads, and other accessories also mounted to the XCHANGE. The 60mm top plate features a standard 3/8”-16 screw, and it “drops” and rotates into the base, locking into place. The base has a 3/8”-16 thread for compatibility with various support setups, taking a 44 lb payload with a sleek and slim two-part form factor. The XCHANGE is offered as a base and plate unit, with each component available separately.
Manfrotto is also releasing three new tripod bags in its Pro-Light series in 69, 80, and 88” internal lengths. Suitable for both indoor and outdoor shoots, the bags are designed for shoulder carry with an outward-facing bag base that keeps the dirt away. The bags transform into a functional work basket when on set, with the wide opening providing easy access to equipment.
The company is also selling both the carbon fiber and aluminum ONE Tripods bundled with the 500X Fluid Head.
