Nikon Announces a New COOLPIX, Zoom Lens, and Speedlight

The Nikon COOLPIX L620 is a 14x optical zoom point-and-shoot camera that contains the latest technologies housed in an ergonomic design. The 18.1 megapixel BSI (Back Side Illumination) CMOS image sensor allows improved image quality even in low-light situations, and the 14x zoom NIKKOR lens is equipped with the company’s VR image stabilization for ensuring sharp images.

A large, high-resolution 3.0” LCD screen makes it easy to frame the ideal shot, even when zooming out, and target-finding AF provides reliable autofocusing. Choosing one of eighteen built-in scene modes helps to optimize the camera in specific situations, whereas an Easy Auto Mode does the thinking for you and sets itself automatically.

Of course, no modern camera would be complete without a video mode. Here, full HD 1080p videos with stereo sound can be instantiated with a one-touch Record button. And for both videos and stills, a series of built-in special effects such as Monochrome, Sepia, Selective Color and more, deliver a custom and creative touch.

The camera is available in a black or red version. Both are powered by two AA batteries, providing versatility and convenience, especially when shooting without access to a power source. With high sensitivity to ISO 3200 and a built-in flash, clear LCD, a good zoom range, and a comfortable grip to hold the camera steady, the COOLPIX L620 makes capturing portraits, faraway action photos and HD videos a breeze.

Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-140mm

The AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR zoom lens is a versatile all-rounder with 27-210mm full-frame equivalency. Optimized for the company’s DX sensor size, the lens goes from wide angle to telephoto for great stills and videos in just about any situation. VR image stabilization helps maintain image integrity, especially in low-light situations and when zoomed out, and you can get as close as 1.5 feet from a subject for detailed close-ups.

Silent Wave Motor (AFS) implementation allows for quiet and accurate focus, while an A-M Focus Mode Switch enables quick changes between manual and autofocus operation. ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass minimizes chromatic aberration, while the aspherical lens element virtually eliminates coma and other types of aberration even when shooting at the widest aperture. A Super Integrated Coating (SIC) enhances light transmission, offers color consistency, and helps to reduce flaring.

Nikon SB-300 Speedlight

On-camera flashes are useful when you need to light a particular situation, but often provide little adjustment flexibility. The SB-300 AF Speedlight is designed to work with compatible Nikon DSLR and accessory-shoe-equipped COOLPIX cameras, and provides soft balanced lighting with fill-flash and tilt capabilities. The 120-degree tilt capability allows for bouncing the flash off the ceiling or a nearby wall for even softer, less direct lighting on your subject. It features a guide number of 59.1’ at ISO 100 and can cover focal lengths as wide as 27mm (FX format), with minimum recycle times as fast as 3.5 seconds.

Nikon’s i-TTL (intelligent Through-The-Lens) flash technology for i-TTL-capable cameras tailors the characteristic of the flash to the shot. An imperceptible pre-flash fires milliseconds before the main flash to gather information about the scene, registering shadow areas, subject distance, and reflectance. An on/off switch, a mounting foot lock release lever, and Flash Ready Light that lets users know when the flash is ready to fire, all provide additional useful enhancements.
