Rokinon Officially Announces 35mm f/2.8 AF Lens for Sony E

As Sony’s full-frame E-mount system continues to grow and become more accessible, many shooters have been looking for more affordable lens options. Rokinon wants to help these shooters by creating its own line of autofocus lenses for the system, to which the company has just officially added the AF 35mm f/2.8 FE. This lens claims to be a high performer in a super-small package that measures just 1.3" long and weighs only 3 oz, making it an ideal match for Sony’s compact mirrorless bodies.

With a wide-angle 35mm perspective and near-pancake design, this lens will be a perfect choice for street, travel, and general-purpose shooting. It also has an internal focusing mechanism and its optical design incorporates two aspherical elements and one high-refractive index element to minimize spherical aberrations, while an Ultra Multi-Coating combats ghosting and flare. Users will benefit from aluminum-alloy construction that is both durable and lightweight and, additionally, has a 7-blade diaphragm for smooth bokeh and comes with a petal-shaped lens hood.

When is the item due to be in stock & ready to ship?

Hi Morgan,

Any information and stock and expected availability will be available on the product page when we have any updates.

The first sentence of this report says the E mount is the Full Frame when the E mount is Crop and might cause some confusion to those not aware of their system (unless I am wrong if so please excuse me.)

Hi Matt,

Sony's E-mount system has both full-frame and APS-C cameras. The a7/a9 cameras are all full-frame with E-mount while the a6000 series is APS-C. This lens is compatible with both.
