Unveiled: Lensbaby 5.8mm f/3.5 Circular Fisheye Lens

Create full-circle images using your cropped-sensor DSLR, with the new Lensbaby 5.8mm f/3.5 Circular Fisheye Lens, available in Canon EF and Nikon F mounts. Featuring an ultra-wide 5.8mm focal length and a 185˚ angle of view, this lens provides you with an expansive, sweeping perspective, even in tight spots. With an aperture range of f/3.5 to f/22 and a close minimum focusing distance of a 1/4", you can practically touch your subject and still have sharp images with expansive depth of field. This Lensbaby lens doesn't bend, so the circular fisheye image is always perfectly centered in the frame.

Sporting a smooth manual-focusing mechanism, this lens also features both a focus distance scale and a depth-of-field scale on its exterior. Get creative with your photos with the polished internal barrel, which produces reflections and creative flare to fill the border around the image circle with colors from bright light sources in your photos.

While the lens is optimized for cropped-sensor cameras, it works with full-frame cameras as well, and simply produces a smaller image circle in the frame. You can start using it immediately without procuring extra add-ons, as this lens is not compatible with the Lensbaby swap system.

What happens to the reflections and flare if used on a Nikon 1?  I do own the Nikon adapter.

While the fisheye effect won’t be as pronounced in a smaller sensor, you should still get flare and reflections.

Has anyone tried using this lens with a Blackmagic 4K camera?

While I have not used the Lensbaby 5.8mm f/3.5 Circular Fisheye Lens on the Blackmagic 4K camera, as the lens is compatible in both Canon EF and Nikon F mount, the lens would fit onto the camera; you would simply have to purchase the correct lens for the lens mount of your camera.

Wil it fit/worl with a Nikon D7100?

Yes, this lens is fully compatible with the Nikon D7100 camera.

Is this lens, particularly in the Canon EF mount, available without the "reflections and creative flare to fill the border around the image circle with colors from bright light sources in your photos"?  The price is quite reasonable, and I'd probably buy this lens if it were available without the flare garbage.

Unfortunately this lens is not available without the creative flare feature.  That is a common attribute of all Lensbaby lenses.

Can you post some examples of what the photos look like on a full frame camera?
