In this final episode of our six-part series on Canon's Cinema EOS line, cinematographer David Leitner walks us through the results of a recent 4K test shoot with the C500 camera and an AJA Ki Pro Quad recorder in New York's Central Park. In great detail, he explains his workflow and the advantages of shooting 4K with the C500 and Canon Cinema EOS compact zooms.
Leitner used Canon's 15.5-47mm and 30-105mm compact cinema zoom lenses and shot in Canon Log gamma mode, recording uncompressed 10-bit 4K data as ProRes 4444 files to the Ki Pro Quad. As you watch the 4K test footage, Leitner serves as tour guide, pointing out elements such as Canon Log's expanded tonal scale that opens up new possibilities for color correction.
