CES 2018: Zoom Releases the H1n Handy Recorder

0Share

With the new H1n, Zoom has taken everything we know and love about the original H1 Handy Recorder and brought it to new sound levels. The engineers at Zoom have redesigned the user experience with a sleek, pocket-size body, a monochromatic LCD screen that is easy to read even in the brightest lighting conditions, and an array of one-touch button controls, making it simpler and more enjoyable to record high-quality audio on the go, for songs, videos, lectures, interviews, and more.

The H1n built-in X/Y microphone captures stereo sound with clarity and definition in just about any environment. For more versatility, a convenient 1/8" mini phone jack mic/line input allows you to connect lavalier microphones or other audio sources. The recorder supports audio resolutions up to 24-bit/96 kHz, in BWF-compliant WAV or a variety of MP3 formats.

You can set the H1n to record automatically using its auto-record, pre-record, and self-timer functions. The advanced onboard limiter allows you to capture the loudest bands distortion-free up to 120 dB SPL, while the low-cut filter helps improve dialog recordings by reducing pops, wind noise, and unwanted low-frequency rumble.

Journalists and musicians can take advantage of the playback speed control, which enables them to transcribe interviews and learn songs without altering pitch. A Voice Emphasize filter optimizes the H1n EQ for dialog recording, making it easy to catch every word. Musicians will appreciate the ability to overdub tracks and create fuller-sounding recordings. Filmmakers using DSLRs will welcome the addition of new Test Tone and Slate Tone generators to mark audio start and stop points for syncing audio to video.

The H1n runs on only two standard AAA alkaline, Lithium, or NiMH rechargeable batteries and records directly to microSD and microSDHC cards up to 32GB. To monitor your recordings, connect your headphones via the 1/8" headphones output with dedicated volume control, or use the built-in speaker. Additionally, the H1n can also be used as a USB microphone or USB interface.

The recorder ships with free download licenses for Steinberg's Cubase LE music production software and WaveLab LE audio editing software.
