NAB 2015: Zoom F8 Portable Field Recorder
Zoom has become a go-to name for portable handheld recorders, so the introduction of its F8 portable field recorder seems like a natural evolution for this company. The F8 gives you access to 8 combination XLR/TRS mic/line inputs, and it boasts a rear-panel connector that allows for compatibility with Zoom’s capsule system from the H6 and H5 portable recorders. Watch Rob Rives as he gets hands-on with the prototype shown off at this year’s NAB.

NAB 2015: Zoom Q8 Handy Video Recorder
B&H’s Steven Gladstone checks out the new Zoom Q8 Handy Video Recorder on the NAB Show floor with Erich Barto. In this video, Gladstone and Barto review some of the features that make the Q8 a pretty unique video camera for musicians, podcasters, journalists, and more—like the ability to record four channels of uncompressed 24-bit, 98 KHz-quality audio and 2.3K-resolution video to SDXC memory cards in a very small form factor. For enthusiasts who want to mix the recorded audio in their DAW as opposed to in their video editing suite, the Q8 can record the audio to separate files, no need for de-muxing for discrete audio. Barto also demonstrates the interchangeable capsule mount also present on the popular H5 and H6 audio recorders, so the included X/Y microphone can be swapped for an optional shotgun microphone for different situations.

Just wanna ask, are these 8 knobs level faders, or just gain controlers?
Hi Avedis -
Controls are provided for manually adjusting recording volume levels and mic gain levels.
