NAMM 2015: MOTU Announces the New 112D AVB Audio Interface

0Share

Mark of the Unicorn (MOTU), the Cambridge-based manufacturer of professional audio equipment, is expanding its new line of AVB-capable audio interfaces with the new 112D.

The 112D is a combination digital audio interface, router, format converter, and stand-alone mixer with high-speed Thunderbolt, AVB Ethernet, and USB 2.0 connectivity to your host computer. The interface offers 24 channels of AES/EBU digital I/O, another 24 channels in ADAT optical format, and 64 channels of MADI for a staggering total of 112 simultaneous digital I/O with minimal latency. All 112 audio channels can be routed freely to and from your host computer via Thunderbolt or to other compatible devices on the AVB network.

As a format converter, the interface allows you to convert between AES/EBU, optical, MADI, AVB, and Computer audio (Thunderbolt and USB). Integrated 32-bit floating point digital effect processing within the interface provides console-style mixing of 48 channels and 12 stereo busses with modeled analog EQ, vintage compression, and classic reverb.

A web application for iPad, iPhone, tablets, smart phones, or computers allows you to control the mixer over Wi-Fi and a second AVB interface such as the 1248, 8M, 16A, or 112D can be connected with an Ethernet cable.  Additional devices can be added to the AVB network by purchasing MOTU AVB switches for sub-millisecond latency communication, even over long cable runs.
