NAMM 2015: RØDE Goes Wireless with the Camera-Friendly RØDELink Filmmaker Kit

RØDE Microphones has announced the release of the RØDELink Filmmaker Kit that promises film and video production professionals premium performance at an accessible price. The system utilizes a Series 2, 2.4 GHz 128-bit encrypted digital transmission signal that constantly monitors and hops between frequencies to select the strongest signal, offering the rock-solid reliability and security of a cabled connection. The Filmmaker kit offers the best signal-to-noise and range in its class and provides a high-resolution 24-bit 44.1 kHz digital transmission offering lossless audio at a range of up to 100m.

The kit comprises a beltpack transmitter and cameral mount receiver with an included broadcast-grade lavalier microphone. The beltpack transmitter features a simple three-stage gain adjustment, while the mute lock function prevents accidental muting of the transmitter. The locking 3.5mm audio input connector ensures body-worn microphones remain secure.

The camera mount receiver features a removable hot-shoe mount, enabling it to be used on-camera and as a belt pack receiver. A mute override function gives complete control to the operator, while mute status, input level, and battery status are displayed for both the transmitter and receiver on the front of the unit. The receiver is also supplied with the same locking 3.5mm audio output connector as the transmitter to provide excellent cable security.

Both the beltpack transmitter and the camera mount receiver can be powered by any USB power source using a standard micro-USB cable, significantly expanding the power options of both units, whether through mains power source or a portable power bank. The system offers eight discrete channels that can be easily set up in seconds with more than 8,000 different channel combinations available. Channel selection and pairing couldn’t be simpler, with one-press operation and automatic scanning, which significantly reduces set-up times when compared to traditional UHF setups.
