"The LK-175 and the LK-260 add the company’s key-lighting function that allows up to four keys to light up, a great learning tool especially when used with the Step Up Lessons."
Casio has recently announced new keyboards in its portable line that offer a refresh of an already well-equipped series of instruments. The updated keyboards are the CTK-2400, CTK-4400, LK-175, LK-260, and the WK-245. They all share several features, including forty-eight note polyphony, beefed-up, built-in amplifiers and speakers, the ability to sample sounds, and comprehensive lesson guides for multiple age groups. A generous complement of sounds and accompaniment rhythms are provided, and all feature headphone outputs.
All but the WK-245 sport sixty-one keys, with the CTK-4400 adding touch-sensitive operation. The LK-175 and the LK-260 add the company’s key-lighting function that allows up to four keys to light up, a great learning tool especially when used with the Step Up Lessons. The WK-245, on the other hand, has seventy-six touch-sensitive keys. Those interested in hooking up their keyboards to a computer can do so via a USB MIDI-compliant interface that is common to all the instruments without the need for installing specific drivers.
All the keyboards have, at the very least, built-in microphones for adding custom samples to the sound libraries. The CTK-4400, the LK-260, and the WK-245 add a microphone input (microphone sold separately) for a superior sampling experience. A sustain pedal input is also found on all the models and a dual powering feature, using an included power supply or optional batteries, makes these portable keyboards truly portable.
