New Focusrite RedNet D16 AES

3Share

Focusrite continues to expand its RedNet line of audio converters with the announcement of the RedNet D16 AES. Like most in the RedNet line, the D16 AES is geared toward network connectivity, in this case, featuring 16 channels of AES/EBU connectivity that can be sent from or received by a Dante audio network. The system converts AES/EBU format digital audio to the Dante format, and vice versa. Additionally, it allows for sample rate conversions for added flexibility, so your source sample rate can always match your destination sample rate. As with most Dante-compatible products, this is intended for live sound-reinforcement applications, but can be used by and Dante network seeking AES/EBU connectivity.

Looks sexy, certainly.

How about a deeper and more detailed discussion of what AES/EBU and Dante mean to audio production, in practical terms.
