Tascam’s line of digital Portastudios reaches back into the past quite a ways, and has served as many home studios’ first piece of gear. With the introduction of the DP-32SD, Tascam shows a renewed commitment to the platform, which serves as one of the best alternatives to DAW-based digital recording and mixing. Like its predecessors, the DP-32SD provides hands-on mixing and recording control with 21 faders (20 track faders and 1 master fader) alongside 12 rotary knobs whose functions are linked to a 3.5" color LCD screen. The unit can track up to 8 tracks simultaneously, and features integrated combination XLR/TRS mic preamps to support that track count. On mixing and playback, 32 tracks are supported.
To help keep the DP-32SD an all-in-one recording, mixing, and mastering unit, each track gets access to DSP-based 3-band EQ, 8 dynamic effects, guitar amp emulations, and a variety of other mix-down effects. Its mastering section includes a multi-band compressor, EQ, dither, and normalize function. You can track in up to 24-bit/48kHz resolution with the DP-32SD directly to SD/SDHC cards, which allows you to import and export your tracks and mixes.
