One of the most versatile wide-angle options, the Vario-Tessar T* FE 16–35mm f/4 ZA OSS is a ZEISS-designed zoom covering ultrawide to standard wide fields of view. Compared to the beloved f/2.8 version, this lens, instead, trades one stop of light for a sleeker profile and adds Optical SteadyShot image stabilization to help reduce camera shake. The optical components include a series of specialized elements, and a ZEISS T* coating helps reduce reflections and flare. Also, it uses a linear AF motor for silent and smooth performance and is dust and moisture sealed for use in inclement conditions.
Applications: A flexible wide-angle zoom that is perfect for anything from landscape to street, this lens isn’t the fastest but it does have the unique asset of image stabilization to help reduce the effects of camera shake when working in low-light conditions.
