Immensely versatile, the Vario-Tessar T* FE 24-70mm f/4 ZA OSS is a standard zoom ranging from wide-angle to portrait length and featuring a constant f/4 maximum aperture. Compared to a faster f/2.8 version, this f/4 zoom maintains a relatively sleek and portable form factor for all-day use. As a ZEISS-designed lens, it uses the T* anti-reflective coating for high contrast and accurate color rendering and, optically, a series of aspherical and ED elements helps to correct a variety of aberrations for fine sharpness and clarity throughout the zoom range. This compact zoom also sports a linear AF motor and internal focusing mechanism, and Optical SteadyShot image stabilization helps to reduce the effects of camera shake.
Applications: One of the most useful zoom ranges, the 24-70mm excels in everything from landscape to portraiture. The lightweight, portable form factor makes this a great travel lens, and the OSS benefits working in low-light conditions.
