New at B&H, Elvid presents a pair of entry-level, on-camera monitors. Elvid’s FieldVision and RigVision monitors both feature a 7-inch display; however, the slightly more advanced RigVision model offers more resolution, a flip-up sun shield, and a rather unique shutter-release feature.
AJA’s Ki Pro “family” is a lineup of file-based, video recording and playback devices. With a form factor and controls reminiscent of a traditional tape deck, the original Ki Pro was popular with broadcast and post-production professionals because it enabled SD and HD video recording in the edit-friendly ProRes 422 format.

ikan's new D-series monitors include the D5, the D5w, the D7 and the D7w. The D5 and the D7 feature either a 5.6- or 7-inch IPS LCD display with 1280 x 800 resolution. The “w” tacked onto the D5w and the D7w models denotes the addition of built-in waveform, vectorscope and RGB parade. These LCD panels benefit from In-Plane Switching technology, which enables improved viewing angles and color rendition.
ikan has recently released updated versions of their VK7 and VX7 field monitors. The new VK7i and VX7i monitors feature 7” IPS LCD screens with higher native resolution, wider viewing angles and more accurate color rendition versus the older models. In addition to the original feature set, which includes Peaking, False Color, RGB adjust, Clip Guides and DSLR scaling, the new models also include a dual tally system.
B&H now carries the Bescor BM-K1 kit, a pair of LED-70 on-camera lights and other accessories for use with the Blackmagic Cinema Camera. The kit also includes Bescor’s BM-LiON battery and BM-SFB Square Frame mounting bracket. The rig is suitable for mounting on a tripod or for handheld work with the two integrated handgrips.
B&H now carries Bescor’s new rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which is designed to power the Blackmagic Cinema Camera. As you may know, the camera’s built-in battery cannot be removed or replaced by the user. This necessitates the use of an external power source, like Bescor’s BM-EPIC battery kit. This kit includes the BM-LiON battery and the BM-CGR charger.
Blackmagic Design announced two new digital cinema cameras at NAB 2013, the Blackmagic Production Camera 4K and the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. These new models will join the current Blackmagic Cinema Camera, which was itself announced last year at NAB 2012. The Production Camera 4K will be the first of Blackmagic Design’s new Ultra HD product line.
Canon has recently announced three new camcorders. The Canon XA25 and XA20 are ultra-compact, professional camcorders designed for run-and-gun videography and ENG. They feature a 20x zoom lens, built-in Wi-Fi, wireless FTP transfer and dual SD card slots to support a variety of recording modes.
