The 560 watt-hour Anton Bauer CINE VCLX-LG battery is housed in a rugged case and is protected against internal damage by automatically cutting off when the output drops to 12 volts DC. A microprocessor inside the nickel metal-hydride battery pack accurately monitors energy distribution and communicates with the charger for optimal performance. The battery provides dual simultaneous outputs of 14.4 volts at 20 amps and 28 volts at 12 amps. The 25-pound battery outputs 14.4 volts DC on a 4-pin XLR and 28 volts DC on two 3-pin XLRs. The CINE VCLX-LG costs $2,282.50.
The Anton Bauer CINE VCLX/2 is basically a less beefy, less expensive version of the CINE VCLX-LG. It has the same feature set but it’s rated at 280 watt-hours rather than 560. Also, it outputs 14.4 volts at only 10 amps instead of 20 amps. At 14.8 pounds the CINE VCLX/2 also weighs less than the CINE VCLX-LG, and it’s priced accordingly at $1,542.95.
The Anton Bauer CINE VCLX CA is a specialized battery designed specifically for use with the Sony F-23 Cine Alta camera. It supplies both 28 volts DC and 14 volts DC from a single 8-pin Lemo connector, along with 28 volts DC from a 3-pin XLR connector and 14 volts from a 4-pin XLR connector.
CINE VCLX batteries can only be charged by the CINE VCLX charger. The 560-watt CINE VCLX charger can charge a battery and power equipment simultaneously. It can charge a battery in seven hours. Features include automatic charge termination, balance and rejuvenation modes and lifesaver maintenance routine. The charger is compatible with worldwide AC systems from 90 to 250 volts AC at 50 or 60 Hz. Field-upgradable firmware allows for future compatibility. The CINE VCLX charger costs $999.95.
The CINE VCLX/2 charger is similar to the CINE VCLX charger. While it can charge a battery in three hours as opposed to seven, it has no power supply outputs and therefore can’t be used in place of a battery. The CINE VCLX/2 charger costs $909.95.
The Anton Bauer Cine DDM, or Diagnostic Discharge Module, is used to test and diagnose CINE VCLX-Series batteries during discharge. A 4-pin XLR cable connects to the battery and a multi-function LCD readout displays the data. The unit will determine battery voltage, capacity in watt-hours, capacity in ampere-hours, and run time in hours and minutes. The Cine DDM costs $969.95.
