Hands-On Review: the Panasonic HX-A100 Full HD Wearable POV Camcorder

2Share
The Panasonic HX-A100 is an action camcorder with a slightly unusual form factor: the lens/imager portion attaches to a comfortable head piece that goes around both ears, and a protected 2-foot cable attaches the recorder to the front end. The whole HX-A100 unit is waterproof to 5 feet, as well as dustproof, so you should have no trouble taking this device into the shallow surf or on a dirt track. There's no LCD screen, but you can connect via the A100's Wi-Fi to your smartphone for live viewing, and there's also a level-shot function to correct tilted images.

Besides the body design, the Panasonic HX-A100 also has a couple of key features that set it apart from the pack. There are three slow-motion recording modes, including 120 fps at 720p and 240 fps at 360p. The slow-motion effect is done in-camera. Also, live-streaming to USTREAM is possible.
