The Cinema EOS C300 is now available in two versions, with the new model featuring continuous autofocus for all Canon EF and supported third-party lenses. The camera targets documentarians, wedding and event shooters, and filmmakers looking for the added value of a Super35 sensor in a camera that is still compact enough to be considered handheld. The oversampled image from its 4K sensor is converted to 1080p HD and recorded in-camera in the 4:2:2, 50 Mbps Canon XF codec. An SDI output means it is also possible to send an uncompressed 10-bit signal to an external recording device for even higher-quality acquisition.
In addition to the EF-Mount autofocus version, there remains a non-auto focus PL mount option and a non-autofocus version of the EF model―the latter can be upgraded to support AF by Canon for additional cost after it has been purchased. In addition to the body-only package, the AF version is exclusively available paired with the 24-70 f/2.8 II L Series lens.
