Here at B&H Photo, we want to announce three new camcorders from Panasonic. The V800, VX1, and WXF1 each feature a 1/2.5" back side illuminated (BSI) sensor for improved performance in low-light environments, as well as new Active Contrast technology and an HDR mode that enables a wider dynamic range response. Sharing similar technologies, The V800 is a Full HD camcorder, while the VX1 and WXF1 shoot and record up to 4K UHD. The V800 has a built-in Leica Dicomar 24x optical zoom lens with intelligent zoom that provides up to 48x zoom range, as well as three optical image stabilizer systems. Panasonic has also incorporated built-in wireless functionality that enables the V800 to utilize its Wireless Twin-Camera Capture feature, allowing you to pair your smartphone with the V800 and capture video from both simultaneously.
If shooting in 4K is your thing, the VX1 and WXF1 both offer 4K capture and recording to SD memory cards. The VX1 is like the V800, with the addition of 4K capture, built-in Wi-Fi and Twin-Camera Capture. However, the VX1 expands on the Wireless-Twin Camera functionality, allowing you to pair up to two smartphones and record their images with the images from the camera. It also provides 48x intelligent zoom when recording HD, but is limited to 32x when capturing UHD 4K. The WXF1 is like the VX1, and enjoys the same features, but expands further on its ergonomics and interface to provide a more cinema-like shooting experience. The WXF1 has an integrated EVF to go along with the flip-out LCD screen common to all three cameras. A built-in manual lens control ring provides you with the control of a manual lens, and built-in control buttons near the lens enable auto/manual selection, as well as quick access to AWB, focus, or peeking functionality.
