Joby: from GorillaPods to HandyPods

0Share

New at Photokina 2018, Joby has announced four new camera-mounting solutions for DSLR, mirrorless, and mobile devices. Two new Gorillapods and two HandyPods can bring low-profile, yet stable shooting platforms to your productions. For cameras weighing up to 8.8 pounds, the GorillaPod 5K Video Pro features a set of GorillaPod legs and a fluid head. The legs provide all the mounting flexibility that you've come to expect from GorillaPod, and the included head enables smooth pans and tilts. The fluid head features a sliding balance plate, enabling you to balance your camera so you can create smooth camera moves. A removable GorillaPod arm attaches to the pan handle, and is perfect for mounting lightweight accessories. This setup supports DSLR and large mirrorless camera systems. The GorillaPod 3K Video Pro weighs half a pound less than its larger brother, and supports up to 6.6 pounds of camera, while maintaining all the other features of the 5K. Its slightly smaller size, weight, and load capacity makes the 3K version well suited for mirrorless camera systems.

For those who don't need a fluid head or are working with compact cameras, smartphones, and accessories, the HandyPod and HandyPod Mobile may just be what you have been looking for. The HandyPod is a small set of tripod legs with a built-in ball head that supports cameras that weigh up to 2.2 pounds. The integrated ball head incorporates a 1/4"-20 threaded mounting stud and supports point-and-shoot, mirrorless, and action cameras, as well as lights, microphones, and other accessories. The HandyPod Mobile adds a GripTight ONE Phone Mount to the HandyPod. The GripTight ONE is a smartphone clamp that accommodates most sizes of phones, including "Plus" phones. The HandyPods are ideal for getting low-angle shots, for use as a tabletop tripod, or with the legs folded, either one can be used as a handle.
