BirdDog has just announced several new products at NAB 2019, including 4K NDI encoder/decoders, a dedicated rackmount for these new models, a camera mount for all its 4K cameras, and a Comms headset designed to work with BirdDog's Comms intercom systems.
The 4K encoder/decoder units allow you to convert up to UHD 4K60 video into full-bandwidth, i-frame NDI streams for distribution on NDI broadcast networks. The encoder/decoders come in three models: HDMI, 12G-SDI, and QUAD. The 4K HDMI model features one HDMI 2.0 input, one HDMI 2.0 output, and one 12G-SDI output; the 4K 12G-SDI model has one 12G-SDI input, one HDMI 2.0 output, and one 12G-SDI output; and the 4K QUAD model offers four selectable 12G-SDI input/outputs and one HDMI 2.0 output. They all feature built-in cross conversion, which allows HDMI input to loop out a 12G-SDI output, and vice versa.
All three models are built with a durable aluminum exterior and feature a 3.5mm headset/mic port, a USB 3.0 port, a 4-line OLED display, a two-color tally indicator, an RJ45 Ethernet port with PoE (Power over Ethernet), and an SFP+ port for use with an optional 10GB adapter, and they can be configured via a built-in Web interface. They also all support Comms Lite, BirdDog's free audio intercom software that can be used with the new Comms Headset. With separately available cables and adapters, you can also control any PTZ camera that supports NDI, NDI|HX, or Visca over IP. Up to two 4K encoder/decoders can be rack-mounted with BirdDog's new 4K Rackmount, and a new 4K Camera Mount has also been released to mount any BirdDog 4K camera model.
