NAB 2019: The Vlogger-Friendly Joby GorillaPod 3K PRO Rig

0Share

Not every vlogger is lucky enough to have a studio for recordings, and many are vlogging on the go. Sure, you can slap your camera on the end of a selfie stick and record as you walk down the street; ignoring the motion sickness and frustration of your viewers as they try to keep their eyeballs locked on your bouncing images. Stabilizers are fantastic these days, but when it comes to mounting your rig for the ultimate in stability, very few products beat the versatility of the Joby GorillaPod and its family of products—the newest of which is the Joby GorillaPod 3K PRO Rig and the GorillaPod 3K PRO Kit.

Like the popular GorillaPod Rig, the new 3K PRO Rig allows for the mounting of a small DSLR, mirrorless camera, or action camera, as well as mounting points and arms for two separate accessories, such as LED lights or a microphone—or even an action cam. The 3K PRO Rig has a 6.6-lb capacity, in part because the new rig was able to cut weight by 9 oz, and height by 5" compared to the original—making the 3K PRO Rig even more travel friendly for storage in your rucksack or however you carry your gear.

The GorillaPod 3K PRO Kit has almost identical specs (slightly lighter and shorter) to the 3K PRO Rig, but lacks the secondary and tertiary accessory mounts and arms below the ball head. The quick-release plates for the BallHead 3K PRO are Arca-type compatible.
