In the blink of an eye, drones can transform from graceful flying filmmaking tools to terrifying meteors of plastic and whirling blades. It's not fun or glamorous to think about, but the dangers of a drone failure are real and you should be prepared for them. Thankfully, ParaZero has you covered with their SafeAir Drone Safety Systems. The ParaZero systems are now available for both the DJI Matrice 200/210 and Phantom series of drones. They are autonomous parachute deployment systems that monitor your drone for catastrophic failures and, once detected, deploy a parachute to bring your drone and its payload safely to the ground.
The key to the SafeAir is that they function without user interaction. When a crisis strikes, the proper response must be made in fractions of seconds to not only prevent extreme damage to your expensive UAV, but more importantly, to protect yourself and other people nearby.
Both the Matrice and Phantom systems perform the same basic functions. They will stop the propellers, deploy the parachute, and sound an audible alarm to warn bystanders. However, these functions operate differently depending on the drone you use.
With the SafeAir for the DJI Matrice 200/210, the system has its own power and has a way to disconnect the power on the drone. When it comes to shutting down the propellers, it cuts the power between the batteries and the motors. The parachute system for the DJI Phantom is also powered by its own rechargeable battery, and it stops the propellers mechanically. Right before deployment, a section of the system turns to simultaneously insert flexible stoppers into the blades, just like sticking a hand into a fan.
Both detect potential emergencies in the same way. The SafeAir for the Phantom and Matrice feature built-in sensors that detect drastic changes with the drone. If control is lost or the power cuts out, SafeAir will detect (within milliseconds) that the drone is in free fall and will deploy the chute. The sensors can also detect the pitch/roll angle of the UAV, deploying the parachute when the angle becomes so extreme that recovery to normal flight is highly unlikely.
Both systems are designed for easy installation, attaching to your UAV in around 10-15 minutes. If you ever need to use it, you can easily repack and reuse the SafeAir for the Phantom in just a couple of minutes. Due to the sophisticated nature of the SafeAir for the Matrice, only trained professionals can repack and reload the system.
Drones with ParaZero on board also have reduced costs and preferred terms with Allianz global insurance. Having a SafeAir on board also eliminates downtime and loss of money due to lost days of service/ operation.
