Sony Launches TOUGH CFexpress Memory Card Lineup

0Share

CFexpress is now a reality for many manufacturers, and the latest launch comes courtesy of Sony and its Type B TOUGH Memory Cards. Ultra-fast with read speeds up to 1700 MB/s and write speeds of 1480 MB/s, these cards are designed to handle the latest generation of video and stills cameras. 4K raw video, high-speed continuous shooting, and many more functions are about to get a boost from this format. Sony put its own “TOUGH” spin on it, as well—these cards are greater than 3x more resistant to bending than a conventional card and able to withstand drops of up to 15 feet. These are serious cards, designed to handle the demands of professional users.

Alongside these cards is the MRW-G1 CFexpress/XQD Card Reader. It will ensure outstanding transfer speeds from the cards to your computer and allow use of Sony's Media Scan Utility to check the current condition of your cards. This allows you to replace aging cards before any issues can impact your workflow.

These cards will be available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB capacities. If you want to learn more about this new media format, you should check out this article about CFexpress on B&H Explora.
