With a 170-degree ultra-wide angle lens, the new HDR-AS20 HD POV Action Cam from Sony is designed to capture a first-person perspective on adventures of all kinds. It features 1080p video recording at 30 or 60 frames per second, a 720p / 30 fps mode for longer recording times, and a VGA (640 x480) mode for producing Web-friendly SD files. For analysis of golf swings and other types of action, or just to create in-camera slow-motion effects, there is a 120 fps Super Slow Motion Mode that records a momentary burst at 720p resolution. Geared for sports, and other extreme activities where things can get a little messy, the camera includes a waterproof housing that is safe to submerge down to 15 feet. This housing also protects from dust and dirt and drops from as high as 5 feet.
In addition to video recording, the HDR-AS20 can shoot 11.9-megapixel still photos in the HDTV 16:9 aspect ratio. The camera also captures photos at intervals of 5, 10, 30, or 60 seconds apart. Interval recording allows you to create time-lapse video effects with compatible software (available separately), compressing events that take minutes, even hours, into seconds.
Wi-Fi connectivity means you can operate the camera and monitor wirelessly from a smartphone or mobile device, as well as pair the Action Cam with the separately available RMT-VR1 Live View Remote Watch. This wrist-worn controller has a built-in color screen for monitoring and can operate record, start, and stop functions, in addition to snapping a photo. You can even use one remote to control up to five compatible Action Cams simultaneously.
The camera includes adhesive mounts, and will work with a wide range of separately available mounts from Sony designed specifically for the Action Cam line. There is also a 1/4"-20 socket on the included housing for use with standard tripods, monopods, suction-cup mounts, and more.
If you're looking for an HD camcorder that can be mounted in myriad ways, with a lens wide enough to capture just about anything happening in front of the camera, the new HDR-AS20 HD POV Action Cam fits the bill.

I wanted to know whats the difference between the AS20 and AS15. From the specifications, it seems that everything is same except for AS20 has NFC and can take image at 11.9MP instead of AS15's 2.0MP. Anything else? Are the video quality same? What exactly are the differences?
Hi Raj -
The discontinued AS15 also offers an included case that may be submerged to 197'. The AS20 offers Built-In Wi-Fi and NFC:
