QNAP TVS-871T 8-Bay Thunderbolt 2 Turbo vNAS: Quick Look

In the following video, Larry Becker, from KelbyOne Media, discusses the QNAP TVS-871T 8-Bay Thunderbolt 2 Turbo vNAS, a high-performance Thunderbolt 2 DAS/NAS/iSCSI/SAN multi-mode storage solution that is compatible with Mac systems. Utilizing the Thunderbolt 2 protocol, which executes 20 GB/s of single channel bi-directional speed, it has been designed for 4K workflows, file storage, and high-speed sharing with Windows, Mac, and UNIX/Linux networks. Using this QNAP TVS-871T, which includes 8 x 6TB NAS-class Seagate hard drives, Becker explores file-sharing standards, RAID configurations, the QTS operating system, as well as the processor and RAM with which the TVS-871T comes pre-configured. I recently purchased this unit and while the potential is great, we have struggled to reliably transfer files from our iMac5Ks to this unit.  We get various errors related to file name length and -50.  We have not had these problems with Drobos which this unit is intended to replace.  Lots of research invested and still no solution which doesn't require work arounds.

I am sorry to hear of the issues you are encountering. It sounds as if you may have received a defective unit.  I would recommend contacting our Customer Service to set up a return or exchange on the drive. They can be reached by phone at 1-800-221-5743 or 1-212-239-7765 or email at [email protected].
