Pelican Drops ATX and HYBRID TRVL Cases with ModPak Storage System
01/21/2025Pelican is expanding beyond their ubiquitous hard cases with a fleet of new products that include backpacks, duffels, suitcases, slings, and more. These options fall under the brand’s fresh ATX TRVL line (which stands for Adventure Travel X-Over) and the HYBRID TRVL line’s AEGIS series (a Greek word associated with protection and support). No matter which line you look at, expect durable storage solutions in various sizes, colorways, and configurations.
The brand describes the ATX TRVL suitcases as an evolution of their classic hard cases, and it’s easy to see why, as they match the same general shape and are similarly “waterproof, dustproof, and crushproof.” The core ingredient here is a proprietary HPX polymer resin, but what really differentiates them are the “Hinomoto Multi-Directional 360° Spinner Wheels” that look far more functional than the wheels found on older cases. The ATX TRVL case comes in multiple colorways and size options, allowing you to carry to 90L of gear. Ranging from 12.1 to 20.5 lb, these cases definitely aren’t light, but for mission-critical gear, they can offer true protection while still letting you zip around the airport.
The HYBRID TRVL AEGIS series of bags and cases focuses more on customization, with a head spinning array of shapes and sizes. The Rolling Duffels have a “Pelican Shield EVA Compression Molded” front lid, but are softer on the sides and back to achieve a more lightweight feel. Multiple color options are available, along with size options of 22”, 28”, and 32”—the smallest of which can be used as a carry on. They fit an impressive 50L, 90L, and 120L, while still weighing substantially less than the ATX cases. For equipment that can hold up to traditional suitcase handling, these are a great way to cut down on overall weight.
Still within the AEGIS line, we have a series of new Travel Backpacks. Coming in at 18L, 25L, and 45L sizes (the largest dubbed a hybrid Duffel/Pack), these backpacks all weigh less than 3 lb, making them ideal for long shoot or travel days. Expect a similar EVA compression molded front lid, strong 500D Cordura Fabric, and thoughtful touches like a sternum strap, padded laptop compartment, and different styles of pockets to suit unique equipment needs. And don’t forget your AEGIS Sling Pack, coming in small, standard, or large sizes, all in those traditional colorways and similar durable materials.
One of the key features of these products is compatibility with Pelican’s new ModPak system. ModPak is a series of smaller bags, cases, pouches, and sleeves that can fit smoothly into a variety of larger Pelican products and stay in place with external and internal molle channels (aka really strong Velcro), as well as traditional Velcro panels. They’re designed to be highly modular, think TrekPak dividers but in more specific sizes based on what they hold. Initial ModPak offerings include two sizes of AV Cases, three sizes of Packing Cubes, two sizes of Storage Pouches, and a Toiletry Bag, all in the four colorways. More ModPak variations are currently in development.

WOOOOOOOOH!!!! As a pelican fan and user i cannot wait for these!!! Been mainly using a s115 but about to fufil my lifetime warranty since the backpack has degraded over the years. Have had almost every pelican backpack and while i love the laptop case being hard i am excited to see these new ones, HOWEVER, the hard case has saved my laptop one time when I forgot i put it right at the wheel by the door when I was talking to a client and then backed up over the backpacks (s115) and it lived without any issues...just a few scratches and that was it. LOVE pelican and can't wait to get my hands on the big one and maybe make some vids on em!
LEGOOO PELICAN! <3
The Aegis backpack would be interesting if it weren't for the MASSIVE logo on the front :D
It matches their other lines of ones like pelican dayventurer cooler and the dayventurer sling. Not to mention that most companies that make duffels have the logo quite big in all fairness.
