In the following video, Aaron Belinfanti, “AB,” discusses several new microphones from Rupert Neve / SE, Warm Audio, Neumann, and Sony that were on display at NAMM 2018. Rupert Neve Designs and SE teamed up for SE’s latest tube condenser microphone, the RNT, which is built around op-amps featured in RND’s 5088 console. Warm Audio showcased the WA-47, which is based on the legendary German tube mic, while the WA-47JR offers the same mic, but in a FET version without the tube. Neumann showed off its latest remake of the U67 microphone, which was painstakingly recreated from the original design documentation. And finally, Sony is offering the C-100 large diaphragm condenser, with two diaphragms and selectable polar patterns, resulting in high-resolution recording with a broad frequency response.
