In the following video, Rob Rives, from B&H, discusses the Audio-Technica AT8024 camera-mount microphone. With the microphone mounted on a Canon 5D mk III, the video explores the microphone’s two settings: one for a mono cardioid pickup pattern and one for an internally matrixed mid-side stereo pattern.  The video compares the sound quality of the microphone to the camera’s built-in microphone, demonstrates the integrated shock mount that attaches to the camera’s shoe mount, as well as noting the 100-hour battery life from a single AA battery. The microphone includes a-10 dB and a-20 dB pad for recording sounds up to 148 dB, and an optional 80 Hz high-pass filter to help reduce hum and wind noise. In the following video, Rob Rives, from B&H, discusses the new  RØDE RodeLink Wireless Filmmaker Kit, a camera-mounted digital wireless microphone solution. With the system mounted on a Canon 5D mk III, the video explores the system’s 100-meter wireless range and ease of use in pairing the transmitter to the receiver when using the 2.4GHz spectrum. The system supports 8 discrete channels with 8,000 channel combinations and utilizes dual internal antennas at 90-degree angles for maximum signal radiation and space diversity at both ends. The video demonstrates the system’s shoe mount, which allows you to attach the receiver to your camera, as well as the additional 3/8" thread for expanded mounting options. Powered by a pair of AA batteries or via a USB port, both the transceiver and receiver have a battery life of at least 7 hours. The receiver’s OLED screen shows you levels, battery status, mute, and channel selection. The video further explores the system’s user interface, as well as the gain, pad, and mute functions, to ensure your camera receives a signal at the appropriate level. The video also demonstrates the included omnidirectional lavalier mic (with foam windscreen), and shares Rives’s advice on getting the most of the system in real-life applications. In the following video, Rob Rives demonstrates Universal Audio’s next-generation Apollo Thunderbolt 2 audio interfaces (Thunderbolt 2 lets you connect to the latest hi-res displays and doubles the bandwidth of the original Thunderbolt by offering 20 Gb/s of speed via two channels in both directions). This video showcases the three rackmount models, including the Apollo 8, Apollo 8p and the Apollo 16, as well as the desktop Apollo Twin. Topics covered include the physical input and outputs of each interface, the front-panel layout, and how the console software allows you to record with included UAD2 effects in real time. Rives also discusses the use of the Unison preamp technology, which is a preamp emulation that changes the impedance, gain staging, and circuit behavior of the preamp being modeled. Furthermore, Rives talks about the included UAD plug-ins, the new monitor section of the interfaces, and the updated A/D and D/A converters.
