There is no substitute. With each new version Wacom improves upon their already brilliant piece of technology. There is absolutely no way you can edit photography without one. There are zealots who claim otherwise, but that's only because they haven't used one yet. The infinite amount of detail with which you can control your editing in no way can a mouse compare. With this version, they even include a wifi kit which is absolutely perfect in every way! The customization allowed on this tablet is superior and makes your workflow so much more efficient, if you're not using one, you might as well be using an Etch-a-Sketch. Check out some of my tutorial videos on YouTube for a live example of how I use mine.

I have been using Wacom tablets for years. I purchased the Intuos Pro in January. I use it primarily for photo editing work.

Shortly after the purchase I started setting up some of the more advanced features in the control panel software, like display mappings for each application, Express Keys, Touch Ring, Radial Menu, etc. It did not take long for me to discover issues with their software. Mapping settings were not persistent, and had to be re-mapped every time I rebooted. The Radial Menu only worked on Display 1, not 2.

I contacted support and they acknowledge these as issues and stated that future releases would rectify the problems. That was true, but I had to wait about 3 more months to see those fixes.

Just this month my wireless adapter died. I diid an RMA. The new unit seems to work, but it was a bear to setup. I ran into all types of issues getting the device to work. Finally got it working, but still today, when I am connect wirelessly, the Wacom preferences show "No Tablet Found" but the device works. And I can see the tablet in the control panel software (which is good).

The worst part of the whole scenario, is the disappearance of support. After the RMA they have not responded to a single request for additional help. That is quite surprising for a device they call "Pro".

Should have bought this a long time ago

Comments about Wacom Intuos Pro Professional Pen & Touch Tablet (Black, Medium):

I had a pro level wacom tab about 6-7 years ago but when I purchased my last computer I went with a smaller wacom bamboo. it worked but i always felt it wasn't as nice. I recently bought another new computer and went back to the pro level wacom and regret not doing this a long time ago. i use it for touch pad- so I don't have a mouse. all the keys on the side are programable for individual software. so it's nice to have custom controls. it's way more sensitive and responsive than the bamboo and the medium size is much nicer for a 27" monitor.

Comments about Wacom Intuos Pro Professional Pen & Touch Tablet (Black, Medium):

I have been using the Wacom Medium for about 2 weeks now and find it to be one of the best pieces of gear out of my camera bag. I am a Lightroom CC users and this product make you feel so much closer to your photo edits. It gives you the full control of your edits and makes you much more involved in your finished product.

Comments about Wacom Intuos Pro Professional Pen & Touch Tablet (Black, Medium):

I've used the Wacom Bamboo prior to this, but it wasn't great when working with dual monitors. I find the size of this tablet to be perfect for all kinds of work. I primarily do video editing, and this thing is a dream for that! Super easy to program macros and it's sped up my overall workflow tenfold.

My photoshop doodles have definitely improved as well!

Tablet stopped working after one year

By TheDesigner

from Brisbane, Australia

Comments about Wacom Intuos Pro Professional Pen & Touch Tablet (Black, Medium):

It was good while it lasted, but one day it just stopped working. I tried replacing the cable, but no luck. The machine is dead. Too bad the warranty has expired only two months ago...
It's a too expensive product to die after only one year.

Works Exactly As Expected

By Jake

from NJ

Verified Buyer

Comments about Wacom Intuos Pro Professional Pen & Touch Tablet (Black, Medium):

This product works exactly as I expected it to - pressure-sensitive, easy and fun to use. It makes Photoshop work a heck of a lot easier - moving my hand and wrist in a pen-like motion is much more accurate than moving it with a mouse horizontally on a desk surface and having it correspond to a cursor moving on a vertical plane on a screen. It's just much more intuitive. I would suggest trying one out before purchasing due to the price, but as soon as I tried my friend's I knew I was hooked.

There are, however, a few cons which are easily mitigated and didn't affect my five star rating:
- The pen tip degrades over time, but they provide you with new tips, called 'nubs'. However, they do not provide instructions on how to swap them out, nor why some are different colors/shapes. There's a wealth of YouTube videos about that, though.
- The wireless dongle doesn't always pick up the tablet right away. I've found that the best solution is to place the tablet directly next to the dongle, turn it on, wait for it to light up to show that it's connected, and then I can move it elsewhere on my desk and it works fine for the duration of the session.
- They don't tell you that when you install the driver, there's a whole series of driver properties. I found them by looking up how to affect the sensitivity, but I had no idea that the buttons on the device were customizeable (I set one to be an "undo" button, and another to be the space bar so I can easily jump around a picture in Photoshop).

Overall, it's great - would like a little more documentation, though!

Wacom Tablet

By Mike

from Phila, PA

Comments about Wacom Intuos Pro Professional Pen & Touch Tablet (Black, Medium):

This is a very nice tablet, but very different from my previous one. I have not had a lot of time using it, but it covers the entire screen, something that takes a little getting used to. I am sure once I do, it will come as second nature. Wacom has several videos available for training that are helpful.

Comments about Wacom Intuos Pro Professional Pen & Touch Tablet (Black, Medium):

I just got it and had a class in Washington DC by Corey Hilz--great way to get a quick start. I can see using this for special selections but won't need if I am just going to run a photo through OnOne or Nik. I don't expect to use it all the time. One glitch--the CD had a drive on it that doesn't work with the latest El Capital Apple version, so the driver must be downloaded off the Wacom website. I found out only by calling Wacom support for help. It doesn't allow the pen to control the cursor without that driver. Their support folks are great. Using it wireless is easy--it just works with no intervention. I can't seem to charge it past 97 percent but that is a small problem.

use with almost everything but but specifically for photo editing. I was not one to think would use it comfortably...love my mac trackpad, I heard that if you use it constantly for 2 days you would never go back, it didn't take me that long. bought the medium, certainly would never need the large and could see myself happy with the small....hard to lay down on the couch and work with the medium.

It slows down my 2009 mac book sometimes when I zoom in and use a very small brush in lightroom, but still love it
