Great bag - great protection

Comments about Manfrotto Pro Roller Bag 50:

I ordered this bag because I wanted a rolling bag that had rigid sides, top, bottom, front and back. Many bags are not rigid in all of these areas. Most are soft-sided with some padding offering some protection, but not the best. The Manfrotto PRB50 fends off those errand bumps and crushing activity very well. The bag offers a lot of padding options inside including the rigid center padding, a nice addition. Everything can be manipulated to accommodate just about any camera configuration and additional lenses and/or other equipment. In my opinion, the trick to preventing possible damage to the contents is to pack snugly and solidly. Do not leave room for things to move around, shift, vibrate, etc. Pack solid. Use the padding pieces to fill unfilled space, if any. This bag flew four flights, contents intact, no issues. Other comments: handle operates smoothly, locks easily up or down. Bag rolls extremely smoothly and quietly. Having the option to tether the lid when open or not by using the straps is nice. Cannot speak to tripod attachment with initial use. Seems this would make the bag somewhat cumbersome to stow and deal with otherwise. Could use a few more exterior pockets/pouches but in my case, this was not a deal breaker. In general, the bag is well made, offers a lot of padding options, large, easy to use zippers and comfortable handles. It is not excessively heavy for its size and construction. Although this bag is more expensive than many others, I feel it offers a higher level of protection than most other rollers and is commensurately worth the extra dollars.

Good bag but with a wish list

Comments about Manfrotto Pro Roller Bag 50:

I use the bag for travel, often international air travel.
Good stuff:
lots of partitions, very deep so can take most lenses straight up, ample room for flashes, chargers, two bodies (one with lens attached). It's well finished and padded, takes my 17" laptop (if it were a fat laptop it might not). Rolling action is good, handle feels solid. Fits easily in overhead.
Wish list:
some serious outside pockets for newspaper, paperback, umbrella (the existing zipped pockets are very small; ample for passports but a tight squeeze for full size plane ticket folder). Wish that it were a little easier to extract the laptop (you have to unzip the cover most of the way).
Concern:
My sample has a very stiff zipper on one side rear corner. I have lubricated it which helps some; it remains to be seen how this wears.

Comments about Manfrotto Pro Roller Bag 50:

Packed up everything I needed for a two week photo holiday. It all fit, the case closed easily, and it still fit in the overhead bin of a 737. Quality construction and ruggedness characterize this bag. It has large dual zippers and the rollers are of ample size for smooth operation. The handle is rigid and extends easily and there are multiple strap handles to make handling easier. On the minus side, the small outer pocket is of little value and there is virtually no way to conveniently attach a tripod.

In addition to the Manfrotto Pro Roller Bag 50, I own the Pro Backpack 20 and Pro Backpack 30. All three serve a different purpose and all three are superior products.

Very good stuff. High quality pads. High flexibility with the configuration of pads. Very well designed. A bit too small for all my équipment but it was my choice in order to respect Airline standards for carry on luggage. I recommand this Roller bag without hesitation.
