This is my focal length. Every photographer have one and my eye see in 23mm. I use a X100 for 3 years and I decide to move to the X-Pro1 unhappy with the X-E1 and take this lens on my move. After 3 shoot I was impress by the build of the lens and it optic. And the week after I realize how heavy this lens is, it's near the size and weigth of the X-Pro1 so I can not be impress but it ergonomy of use. The X100 fit in a pocket, nobody notice you take picture in the street and weigth less than this lens with 4 spare battery.

But after shooting more with it I felt for this lens. It make such nice picture. I shoot most of the time at f1.4, bokeh are similar between f1.4 and f2 but you have more light. And image are sharp and constrasted. I do not see any chromatic aberation but I shoot in jpeg (yeah I don't like post processing picture) so maybe the jpeg converter remove it.

I own nikon prime 35mm f2 D, 20mm F2.8 D, 50mm F1.4D and G and 105mm f2.8 D macro. With all this lens I always step down 1+ stop auperture to have better quality image on full frame (it's worst on DX camera) and I don't have this lack of sharpness with this 23mm lens. Is better than the X100 lens. It's contrast/bokeh wide open remember me my Nikon 35-70 F2.8 D at 35mm on my D700 (another great lens).

Also manuel focusing is smooth. Now with firmware update and the X-Pro1 I do not have problem automatic focusing on moving children. I would like beeing able to focus near.

So far I'm really impress. This lens is heavy but by far the better prime I ever use. I have hight expectation for the fujifilm 14mm and the 35mm !

I was looking for a good street shooting lens and it is very bright and the auto focus is really fast. But the auto focus and even the manual focus is really noisy compared to say the new 18 - 135mm which is almost silent. Also there needs to be more distance markings on the barrel in whole numbers to manually zone focus especially between 8ft and 2.5ft. Most Americans can estimate 1, 3 and 6 feet.

Beautifully made and love the XT1.

EXCELLENT Lens !!!!

Comments about Fujifilm XF 23mm f/1.4 R Lens:

If I could give this lens more than just 5 stars I would. I've shots street photography, portrait, product, event, landscape, night time photography and more. This baby out does or matches up to every other Fujifilm (or Fujifilm lens mount) lens I own. I truly can put this lens in the category of 'best lens I own' - and I'm comparing this to 3 other primes and 2 telephoto zooms (all pro grade / low "F" stop etc...). I could go on and on and gush about this lens. Bottom line: If you're even considering this and have the budget, do not even hesitate. Just buy it> I can NOT imagine anyone being disappointed enough to return this or whatever !!!!

I left the best till last

Comments about Fujifilm XF 23mm f/1.4 R Lens:

I held off getting the 23mm as I have an X100t that I use for that focal length, but I wanted to be able to use my X-T1 for a wedding, so I grabbed this while on discount. I was not disappointed. I shot in very low light at the wedding venue and that extra stop of exposure helped a lot. The lens balances really well on the X-T1 and I love the ability to zone focus like I can with the 16mm f1.4.
This is a great lens and focal length and I would encourage people to consider this over the 35mm for general use and full length portraits. Worth every penny.

Comments about Fujifilm XF 23mm f/1.4 R Lens:

Picked this up just recently so I'd have the classic wide angle for my first visit to New York City. It proved to be invaluable and the majority of my images were captured with this lens. Excellent build quality, extremely sharp out to f1.4, and wonderful contrast. You really couldn't ask for much more. A great lens from Fuji!

Sharp lens even wide open. I use it with a Fuji XT-10 and the combo is small enough to be unobtrusive and at 1.4 it's fast enough to capture inside or out.

Nice on Xpro2.

Comments about Fujifilm XF 23mm f/1.4 R Lens:

I bought the lens for my Xpro2 and to replace my X100s 23mm f2, but compared with X100s @f2 I found out the lens is a bit soft, so I went to B&H store to ask for another copy. The customer service at B&H was very helpful and gave me a lot of time to test the replacement lens and assisted by their Fuji Expert staff. I got it replaced and was very happy with the build quality and sharpness of the Fujifilm 23mm 1.4.

Comments about Fujifilm XF 23mm f/1.4 R Lens:

I like the 35mm (equivalent) field of view. I'm convinced it's my favorite. I rented this lens right around the time that I purchased the XPro2. The images I made of my children with this lens around the house and at the park were some of the first that I had a visceral response to in a long time. Focus acquisition is great, the focus ring is smooth whether turning fast or slow, and the images sing.

Comments about Fujifilm XF 23mm f/1.4 R Lens:

After using Nikon for many years I decided to try Fuji . I enjoyed the system, but decides to change again to the new system using the 23mm 1.4. Simply perfect! I've had more than 20 different lenses of various brands , but this is certainly the sharpest . I did my first work with her on Saturday , a wedding and the photos were perfect . others recommend this excellent lens.

I love this Fuji prime lens

Comments about Fujifilm XF 23mm f/1.4 R Lens:

This focal length 25mm (35 mm equivalent full frame) is my favorite to shoot at around town, at friends and family events, and for outdoor landscape photos as well. It takes amazing photos, is a pro lens build, feels great on the X-T1, is optically perfect, and to me is like a work of art in itself not to mention the pictures that it takes are as well. The f-stop dial is easy to access to rapidly adjust the amazing bokeh it can produce. This is the lens that now stays on my camera by default (I have 3 Fujifilm zooms and the 56mm prime), would be the prime lens that I would pick if I only had one lens. I highly recommend it. As I have read in other reviews, it's a no brainer - just buy it. It's that good.

Comments about Fujifilm XF 23mm f/1.4 R Lens:

I tend not to heap superlatives on much of anything, but I really think this is an amazing lens and probably the best lens I own at the moment.

On an X-T1, it feels well balanced, and I can only imagine it would handle similarly on a X-Pro model. It may perhaps feel a little out of place on a smaller, lighter body. The aperture ring is sublime and the clicks are satisfying, and you can probably guess what apertures you're moving between without actually looking at the lens or the value in the viewfinder. The manual focus ring feels well weighted, has a nice long throw between closest distance and infinity, and is quite accurate despite not being mechanically coupled to anything. I will say, though, the distance scale printed on the barrel is next to useless. There's not enough markings to really get a good idea of how much depth-of-field there is at any aperture, making it feel vestigial rather than anything one would rely on for accuracy.

Mechanical attributes aside, this lens helps to produce wonderful photos. Details are sharp even at f/1.4, and they get even sharper as you stop down the aperture. The bokeh is gorgeous, though out-of-focus highlights get a little heptagonal by f/2.8 - this is really the only area where I think this lens could improve, aside from perhaps adding weather sealing. Focusing accuracy is almost always spot on, which helps when shooting wide open. There is some focusing noise, kind of like a low grinding whirr, but it doesn't bother me. That noise pales in comparison to old autofocus motors that sound like a spasming dot-matrix printer.

Among the 'normal' focal length prime lenses available for the Fuji X-Mount, this is the one I'd recommend. I've shot with the 35mm f/2 and f/1.4, and, despite somewhat preferring their focal length, the 23mm beats both of them hands down, in my opinion. I found the 35mm f/1.4 hunted a bit too much on certain subjects, such as people with darker skin tones, and the 35mm f/2 - despite being weather sealed and having a superior aperture iris - is, well, only f/2. I often shoot in dark environments, so that extra stop of light means something, such as a faster shutter speed or a lower ISO setting. Neither are bad lenses by any means - they were both very sharp and I can see why they're quite popular. I personally feel the 23mm f/1.4 is just that much better.

That pretty much summarizes how I feel about this lens: It's just that much better than others I've used. Despite a few minor and completely inconsequential and ignorable drawbacks, this is the finest lens I own... and will probably remain so until I buy the 90mm f/2 (also an amazing lens, but for different reasons).

Comments about Fujifilm XF 23mm f/1.4 R Lens:

Bought the XT1 a week ago with 35mm, f2 lens which is outstanding. I wanted something a bit wider for street photography and some landscape work. I bought the 23 mm F1 .4 lens expecting a good lens, I was not expecting excellence!!! From build quality to image quality, this lens is off the charts amazing!!! I've been shooting Nikon gear for the last 45 years and I'm totally blown away by what Fujifilm has produced with their cameras and lenses. This lens is a must-have for any Fuji X photographer.
