Comments about Pentax K-3 DSLR Camera with 18-135mm Lens:

I purchased this for Birding. The Pentax Price value and overall specs among the 24 megapixel sensors gives me good cropping ability.
It's fantastic performer for birding and nice gets nice sharp images minus the AA filter. The K-3 built quality and the all weather resistances is un heard of for at this price.I got a used sigma 120-400 for birding and it pairs well with it.The Kit Lens 18-135 is also Nice and sharp.

Comments about Pentax K-3 DSLR Camera with 18-135mm Lens:

This camera is absolutely great. It beats my wife's Canon EOS hands down for IQ, ease of use, reliability, and is just an overall joy to use. As an added bonus, Ricoh/Pentax customer support is simply great. I ordered a used K-3 from B&H, and when I received it, it was missing the bottom battery grip terminal cover. B&H was unable to help me get one. I called Ricoh, and the customer rep told me that the part was not produced separately, but that he would send me one if they could get their hands on one. He took my information, and about two weeks later, I received the cover in the mail, free of charge! Overall, I love the camera, and am thoroughly satisfied with it, B&H, and Ricoh/Pentax. If I had to name a con, I would have to say that the battery life could have been better, but for what it does, it is quite acceptable.

Comments about Pentax K-3 DSLR Camera with 18-135mm Lens:

Just bought this camera and immediately used it during a week-long photography workshop abroad.
The camera delivers and is very user friendly, even for novices. I like to shoot in Manual and this camera works well for shifting aperture, shutter and iso quickly.

The dual SD card slots are also great, since one can capture both RAW and JPEG simulataneously. Finally, the camera itself is pretty lightweight compared to its rivals, ie the Canon 60/70 D, which is pretty heavy to toggle around with, if traveling and doing day-long shooting.

Comments about Pentax K-3 DSLR Camera with 18-135mm Lens:

I had a Pentax ist-DL DSLR several years ago, and at the time, I swore to myself that Pentax was perfect for me, because of the different Modes you WILL NEVER SEE on Nikon or Canon DSLR's now or in the future. I originally have been thing of the Nikon D7100 DSLR, but I know in my heart that I would personally enjoy the Pentax K-3 even more
because I can see plainly it has better Weather sealing, and Most likely the FPS is slightly faster to boot. So I will update with a Verified Buyer after I have had for awhile.

Comments about Pentax K-3 DSLR Camera with 18-135mm Lens:

I've waited a couple of months to buy this rig, and man was it worth it. After much research, reading and watching dozens of reviews I decided this was the one. Tons of features and extras, solidly built, weather resistant, and well thought out placement of the controls. Colors are brilliant and crisp. Service and price from B&H are great as usual.

This camera is a good camera. Before I choose pentax k3, I compared nikon d7100, canon 70d and pentax k3 completely. I find pentax has more stronger body. As for the lens, It is totally siutable for me to choose.

Comments about Pentax K-3 DSLR Camera with 18-135mm Lens:

Despite Pentax's perplexing model numbering, (K-30, K-7, K-5, K-3 - and K-3 is the top of the line) I've owned all of the lineup except the K-30, and each move down has been a step up.The K-3 has many features I missed in the K-5, especially in video, so it made it worth it to relegate the K-5 to body#2 and step up (down) to the K-3.The K-7 originally sold me on Pentax's great design and value and the line still holds up quite well when compared to the Big N and the Bic C brands.I shoot mostly outdoors, and often in less-than-ideal wether, so the sealed body is a big plus. I like the small form factor and very solid feel. At first when shopping around, I thought the K's felt so heavy, but it was really the others that were too light. The extra heft and smaller size make handling more stable.I had been waiting for Pentax to introduce a full-size sensor camera, but now with the K-3 I'm not sure that's such an issue these days. After all, why follow a film standard? The 24mp sensor has plenty of pixels and the smaller form is great for travel.Perfect DSLR for someone who knows their way around manual settings and is willing to explore the possibilities of getting away from the default settings.I'll also give a thumbs-up to the on-camera image stabilization rather than lens-specific stabilization schemes.

Comments about Pentax K-3 DSLR Camera with 18-135mm Lens:

This is my 4th Pentax DSLR (after K20, K7, K5). Decided to upgrade in view of current price deal at B&H (I always have bought photo gear at B&H, mostly mail-order, and was always very satisfied with their service). This camera is built extremely well, at a professional level, and I had my former Pentax DSLR subjected to extreme weather without any damage. I find Pentax user experience (menus, handling, etc) better than Nikon and much much better than Canon.

Comments about Pentax K-3 DSLR Camera with 18-135mm Lens:

                    The K3 replaced my K100D.
I expected a higher resolution, and this camera did not disappoint me. This camera is extremely fast and sharp, great color rendition and low noise. Better image stabilization, and will support Optical stabilization, But it is not necessary. Focusing is quick and accurate. All older Manual focus lenses are supported, prime lenses can use Shake reduction, But Shake reduction should be turned off for Manual focus zoom lenses. The camera cannot tell what the focal length is. Metering is very accurate, and gives uniform results regardless of the ISO speed or aperture settings. TTL flash is also supported and gives excellent results. 27 focusing points gives excellent tracking ability. But if you're not Shooting fast-moving subjects birds in flight, sports or kids, You should use 9 focusing points or Central point focusing. The simulated Anti-aliasing filter works great. But unless your making poster size prints or larger, it probably won't make a difference in what you see. USB 3 and Dual high-capacity memory cards. USB 3 Speeds up transfer tremendously. Pictures transfer quickly from camera to computer. Wireless access is available along with GPS adapter. But neither would benefit me at all. So I'm glad they're not built into the camera It would just raised the price. The screen does not tilt or swivel. To me that is a plus, less chance of breaking Off. However the screen orientation changes when you go from landscape to portrait. The text is always readable. You don't have to tilt your head to Read it. It also has an internal level to precisely orient the camera square to the subject. A nice feature.

The Pentax 18 to 135 WR lens that came with this kit is sharp, quick and quiet. Excellent color Rendition and Any Distortion is imperceptible.

So far I have had no complaints about this camera. It is easy to use and very reliable. Exactly what I expected.

Comments about Pentax K-3 DSLR Camera with 18-135mm Lens:

The Pentax K-3 is one solid camera! Purchasing it sight unseen because of the good reviews and having had an old Pentax camera which produced sharp quality prints, I opted to take a chance. Being new to the DSLR, at first the technology was a bit overwhelming. But, as I use the camera and read a lot I 'm excited to continue experiencing what the K-3 can and will do. I like the solid feel of the camera, the grip is comfortable and the function button placements are easy to find. I plan to order the camera grip. If I read correctly, it helps balance the camera when shooting pictures. The lens is a very good all around lens. I will certainly purchase other lenses in the future. I have only taken a few photos but was impressed with the quality of them when downloaded. I have a long way to go before becoming proficient but I am very happy with the choice I made.

Comments about Pentax K-3 DSLR Camera with 18-135mm Lens:

The K-3 feels sturdy and professional. This camera is bang for buck one of the best deals you will currently find on the market. The K-3 gives you all of the professional features you are looking for in any competitor at half of the price.

The camera itself has two moderate downsides. One, the camera takes a long time to tweak and find the settings you want to typically shoot with; however, once you do find these settings you can save them as a starting point in one of three users' profiles. Two, the image stabilization and focus are tricky resulting in poor images if not carefully configured. There are many online reviews going over how to tweak the camera into optimal settings and I recommend watching these before considering this camera.

Once the entire tweaking and configuring process is figured out, the K-3 is an amazing find. For the casual photographer moving up in the world or the professional in need of a backup this is the camera for you.

Comments about Pentax K-3 DSLR Camera with 18-135mm Lens:

I upgraded form a Pentax K-10 and the K-3 is a whole world better. It was easy to start using the camera but the picture quality and focus ability is so much better that you have to use it to believe it. Pentax offers the features you have to pay much more for from Cannon or Nikon. I use the camera to document construction projects and I cannot say enough about the quality of this especially with the weather resistant construction of the camera, it really protects it form the elements that I'm normally exposing it to.

Comments about Pentax K-3 DSLR Camera with 18-135mm Lens:

The ergonomy is great and the cam with its good user interface is very easy to use for someone who has already some experience with DSLRs. Its set of features is really extensive and provides all what a photo enthusiast needs, and some more.

The AF accuracy and speed is very good, if one has a lens which can provide the necessary AF speed, as for example the Pentax DA 18-135mm F/3.5-5.6.

The build quality is great as with all of the Pentax products I own/owned. And the weather sealing together with a sealed lens allows to shoot in all weather conditions. I used this feature quite extensively, while taking picutures on hiking tours.

What I'm missing is the tilt/swivel screen. Even though I would need it only for a few percent of my shots, it would still be handy sometimes. With a tilt screen this camera would be perfect.

Comments about Pentax K-3 DSLR Camera with 18-135mm Lens:

I'm coming from a Canon 50D an all I can say is WOW!!! I've been shooting for about ten years, but lately I've been stuck in "auto" mode, because my camera just did not inspire me anymore. Instead of just going our big box stores, This time I researched extensively before deciding on the pentax k3. I usually like to "hold & feel" the camera before I buy, but B&H has a great reputation and I took the plunge.. From the moment I opened the box, you could just tell this is no light weight camera(meaning g that it is pure quality). After unpacking everything and reading the manual I was ready to shoot. I started in full auto mode just to get a feel for the camera and on my cannons best day and I had two very nice prime lens for it, it could not shine a light to this section little thing. I have big hands so I ordered the grip with it and it fits like a glove. I'm 47 years old and I'm like a kid in the candy store with this baby. I would also like to add, that a week after my purchase, the camera went on sale with the grip included for free. Never dealing with B&H before I wasn't sure how they would handle my purchase. Let me say that they were great about it and credited my card back for the cost of the grip, no questions asked. They have a customer for life now.. I would also like to add, that in low light I could never get "the shot" with my canon, but the very first night in "auto" mode yet, I was blessed to achieve stunning night photos. So yes I would strongly recommend this camera to anyone, along with the great customer service from B&H. I hope this helps.. P.S. My kit came with the 18-135mm lens..
