Using this on my A7 with my Sigma 70-200 and Minolta 50 1.7 and 35-70 F4. Focus is good and snappy. I think it is slightly slower than my A77. Stationary subjects no problem- right there and fast. Moving subjects in good light- no bad, not great, but it works. It is quiet and actually feels good supporting the camera and lens with the bottom tripod mount- sits in your left palm. Continuous is not so great, so you'll have to adapt your technique to you subjects. Follows birds in clear sky well. I use mostly manual lenses, but its nice to have autofocus from time to time- if you have autofocus lenses and an A7(r), you have to get this.

This adapter does what it's supposed to do, and it works pretty well.
My problem with it is its inconvenient size and shape. I have some A-mount lenses and some E-mount lenses. If I'm using an A-mount lens on a tripod and I wanna quickly switch to an E-mount lens on the same tripod, I have to unscrew the QR plate from the adapter and screw it onto the camera. Why don't I buy a second QR plate and keep it on the body for when I'm using E-mount lenses? Well, I tried that. When the LA-EA4 is attached to my A7s, there's only about 20mm between the adapter and the camera's 1/4" screw. I can't find any QR plate that small that will work on my tripod AND glidecam. The adapter gets in the way of any QR plate I try and put on the body. I understand it has to be big because it has a translucent mirror inside, but why couldn't Sony put all that stuff on top instead of letting it hang down from the bottom. It looks ugly, it make it very uncomfortable to hold with the small A7s, and I can't easily transition from my A-mount to E-mount lenses. I hate it. But I need it.
I guess it's not fully the adapter's fault, it's more the A7s's fault for being so tiny. My bigger A57 is way easier to handle than this camera with the LA-EA4 on it. Too bad Sony doesn't put this amazing low light sensor into an A99 body. Then I wouldn't have waste my time with this clunky adapter.

4 years and still wonderful!

Comments about Sony A-Mount to E-Mount Lens Adapter with Translucent Mirror Technology (Black):

This is for the LA-EA2.

With a little history behind me utilizing this adapter I will say that it has yet to disappoint.

I am an Alpha guy and have invested heavily in A mount lenses and it is wonderful to take any of my A mounts and mount them to any of my E mount cameras and have them produce photos that are every bit as good as any I could take with my A mount camera.

I have taken it all over the world and it is more than robust enough to spend weeks with me in the field over and over and never need more than a good quality cleaning.

I will be purchasing a FF Sony at some point and will not hesitate to pick up EA4.

Just good stuff!

Very Pleased With This Product

Comments about Sony A-Mount to E-Mount Lens Adapter with Translucent Mirror Technology (Black):

I used this adapter with my Alpha 6000. It worked as advertised with my three A-mount lenses (one Sigma, one Tamron, and one Sony). You give up the image stabilization but that is a small tradeoff considering that you are now able to use A-mount lenses with a mirrorless camera body. Be aware that you won't be able to shoot as fast as with a native E-mount but I was still quite pleased with the adapter overall.

Comments about Sony A-Mount to E-Mount Lens Adapter with Translucent Mirror Technology (Black):

Bought this this replace same item I already had. It functions fine, but scratched the mirror while cleaning it (with proper cleaning instruments -- it is VERY sensitive). Kinda bummed to buy another, just to make one A-Mount lens work with my AS7ii... because it screws up all my mounting systems with steadycam and tripod...but no way around it. Whatever.

Would definitely buy again

Comments about Sony A-Mount to E-Mount Lens Adapter with Translucent Mirror Technology (Black):

Works well with all of my native Minolta glass and newer @ mount Sony and Sigma glass. Some say turning a mirrorless camera back to a mirrored camera defeats the purpose, but for me the form follows function and makes the camera more steady to hold with larger lenses. Appreciate the tripod mount when using long glass like 70-200 f2.8. It takes the pressure off of the lens mount. Auto focus works well with all lenses.

I use this with the Sony A7 and the following lenses: Minolta 28-85mm, 50mm, and 75-300. Auto focus is fast and communication with the camera is not a problem. Quite happy with the adapter.

Comments about Sony A-Mount to E-Mount Lens Adapter with Translucent Mirror Technology (Black):

I use this on my Sony A-6000 so I can use my Sony A-mount lenses. It works really well. NOTE: make sure you have the correct firmware on your A-6000 before using this. I did not have updated firmware and my photos came out blurry. Once my firmware was updated, it has worked really well. I am very pleased.

Nicely built product

Comments about Sony A-Mount to E-Mount Lens Adapter with Translucent Mirror Technology (Black):

I purchased the E-Mount lens adapter to use with a Sony a6000. The LA-EA4 arrived in a timely manner from B&H. The holder for the LA-EA4 is nicely designed. There are ample warnings not to touch the mirror on the adapter. There are instructions for properly mounting the adapter to the camera.

After attaching the LA-E4A to the a6000 I attached an A-Mount Tamron XR Di II AF 18-200 F/3.5-6.3 (IF) Macro to the adapter. The combination changes the way the focusing screen looks when focusing on the target image. Several little green squares will light up showing that focus has been acquired. After several shots the unit appeared ready for use. The lens adapter combination failed during an actual photo shoot. The combination quit focusing and the shutter button on the a6000 could not be depressed. After removing the unit the a6000 worked properly with the regular Sony E-Mount lens.

The A- E lens mount is easy to attach. The only drawback is that when using the adapter, the amount of light
is diminished.

I have several A-mount legacy Minolta lenses that I have had for many years. With this adapter I can use them with my Sony A7ii and get excellent results. With the A7ii, I suddenly found that those lenses really were actually very sharp. The only negative is that you have to be very careful not to touch the mirror.
