Because I primarily use my Canon 1Dx, I wasn't able to try the TTL functionality until recently with this controller. Once the firmware update came out at the end of April, I downloaded it and tried shooting with it in TTL mode with my Canon 5D Mark III. For the most part I was very pleased with the use of it. However, there were quite a few times where it misfired or didn't fire at all, and I couldn't figure out why. I turned it off and back on and adjusted from manual back to TTL. I hope it was just a glitch that day. Overall, despite its steep price tag, it works as expected. One thing I wish it did was display the actual power readout of the flash head on the LCD screen of the controller, instead of just + or - with exposure compensation. Not sure why it was designed that way.

Essential tool for B1's and digital display great to have...BUT as already mentioned here biggest issue is that the power adjustment level on remote does NOT correspond with B1 head. Profoto are you listening....whats the point of having a simple (and expensive) + or - adjustment level on the remote that does not even correspond to the actual power level display on the B1??? STOP pumping this system as revolutionary and start to include essential functionality for photographers... How are we supposed to know and quickly adjust the current power level in manual for each head? This is vital when trying to work alone or quickly with more than 1 head and not keep asking your assistant "What is the power level on the B1"?Makes me believe that you mainly created these things with TTL in mind.I rarely use TTL (unless i'm forced too) and for me the power adjustments in manual also respond tooooo slowwww from the remote (I'm sure you get the point)....and i can make a cup of tea by the time they get there with more than 1 head....Other gripes...more about the B1's limitations as a closed system and compatibility to trigger Sekonic meter but i will moan about that in the B1 reviews...

Comments about Profoto Air Remote TTL-C for Canon:

At the beginning I was a very disappointed from the controller, but after the update work flawlessly and off course is an indispensable piece for the strobe lights.

The only reason I am not giving 5 star is that is missing the af beam assist and that profoto don't offer any receiver equipped with an hotshoe that is a big left down

This is a Amazing Remote to trigger the Profoto range of lights with TTL and HSS ..... I have been using this with the B1 and it's just the best experience! Love that this was a free item with the purchase of a B1 or B2 light kit.... Oh and they have a canon, Nikon, and Sony version now so make sure you chose the right one for the camera you have I almost made that mistake at checkout ordering the wrong version. Love the light and Remote both are super amazing products form the best camera store B&H!

Issues with model 1A remote

By stuart

from Undisclosed

Comments about Profoto Air Remote TTL-C for Canon:

If you bought your remote three or four years ago, then let's say you buy a new Canon 5DS, and while you're at it upgrade the firmware in your 1DX, Then you upgrade your Profoto remote, stick it on your camera and surprise! Won't work in manual and shutter lag in TTL, so you send it in for repair and in the interim you rent a new remote which works perfect. So when you get repaired unit back, same issue, doesn't work with your main camera or new camera. Then you discover, your old remote is model 1A, the new one is 1C. So what's the solution? Don't update your Canon or Profoto firmware or buy a new remote? As good as Profoto gear is, I'm giving them one star because of poor service, on this issue. Profoto should fix this not require a $100 fix or force a photographer to purchase a new remote.

Comments about Profoto Air Remote TTL-C for Canon:

I just began using this product, so experience has been limited to date. Based on my experience so far and reviewing so many other professionals' experience, this product appears amazing. It provides an amazing level of control over your Monolights and all of this from behind your camera, as it should be! Nice job Profoto!

Comments about Profoto Air Remote TTL-C for Canon:

This remote is a game changer, I love it and so does my lazy assistant. Doesn't have to do anything but set up the lights. He/ she gets to get back to Facebook asap. Which is fine with me. Personality is lacking anyway. The only thing I wish It could do in Hi Speed Sync is power down lower than 7 on the dial. Hopefully a firmware update will come soon, shooting with a Beauty dish up close at F3 @ ISO 1000 and you'll probably need some ND on the flash.

I use this to trigger the Profoto B2 and it has never failed. Reliable to the distance stated for triggering the B2. Add very little weigh to the camera and controls the lights functions beautifully.

expensive remote with limited build qulaity

By Benjamin Kohen

Comments about Profoto Air Remote TTL-C for Canon:

The remote works well but feels very cheeply made. seriously, almost 500bucks and it feels like it will break in a month. otherwise its the only thing that works with the B1s so of course it goes without saying i would recommend it.

NO 1DX MK II support for TTL, yet.

Comments about Profoto Air Remote TTL-C for Canon:

Just updated the firmware on this and the B2 pack, but their June 2016 B7 firmware does not yet support TTL for the 1DX MK II as it over exposes. The HSS works when you use the pack on Manual, but this kinda defeats the purpose. Hope they are able to issue a new firmware soon. Until then I can only use my old 5D3 with TTL. : (
