A truely easy to use lens that is crisp and clear for those unforgetable shots. Yet with its soft focus settings taps into your creative style.

Comments about Canon Telephoto EF 135mm f/2.8 Autofocus Lens Soft Focus:

I've owned this lens for about ten years now, having bought it for portraits of the older women in my family. Well, they like the portraits it produces, not only because of the soft focus "wrinkle disposal" the lens offers from wide open to about f/5.6, but also, and this is important, the counterintuitively long focal length whose perspective complements the face. Buy one and you'll be pleased by the results!

Comments about Canon Telephoto EF 135mm f/2.8 Autofocus Lens Soft Focus:

This is a delightful lens. The effect is quite delicate at the low setting--I didn't think of trying settings between the click stops as someone else has suggested.

Portraits are very flattering, and the lens is very sharp with the effect dialed off. Auto focus is fast, and the lens is very light. Construction is also very good--good design.

Comments about Canon Telephoto EF 135mm f/2.8 Autofocus Lens Soft Focus:

I use this lens on 350D, 5D and 40D for flower and people, even tele landscape a few times. The results are great, especially when the light source is behind the subject. I only set the soft focus between 0 and 1, about 0.5 wide open. The price makes this lens even more attractive. AF is almost as good as USM with a little buzzing noise. Got a 3rd party hood from [...] for only a few bucks. Perfect! If you don't like the soft focus effect, this lens is still a great sharp lens even wide open!

Use this lens on Canon 350D and 40D
This lens is cheap, sharp and contrasty even wide open. The soft focus got very positive response from 40 something ladies.
The build quality is very decent, similar to Canon 50/f1.4, 100/f2, or
The AF is squeaky and less sure-footed as USM

Comments about Canon Telephoto EF 135mm f/2.8 Autofocus Lens Soft Focus:

I actually love this lens, the only downside is its 135mm, so you can easily frame your subject all the time.

You really can't use the f2.8 for soft focus, as it is overly soft at setting 2. And if you go higher than f4 it tends to lose its soft effect. I love how sharp this lens is without the soft feature turned on, and I love how you can do soft or not. GREAT!

This lens actually convinced me to get rid of my other brand 28-70 lens, and purchase a better canon lens to replace it!

Comments about Canon Telephoto EF 135mm f/2.8 Autofocus Lens Soft Focus:

I planned to use it really rare for some kind of portrait photography due to softfocus feature but it unexpectedly happened to shot some sport sessions when the only long focus lens I had was 135mm SF. What a great results! I was really surprised. Fast, light, sharp.
Sure it looks cheap and touches cheap but results are very nice!

Comments about Canon Telephoto EF 135mm f/2.8 Autofocus Lens Soft Focus:

Very happy this lens, primarily us it for indoor sports and theater work, this lens reminds me of a FD 135mm f/2.5 I use to use in high school which I still own. Push the ISO to 800 then in manual mode 1/125 f/2.8 and start shooting,,,,, you will be very satisfied. This lens offers more bang for your buck. This lens mates with DSLRs with a factor of 1.6 very well,,,,, you will get a lens equal to 216mm. Lets go out and shoot some basketball players! The soft focus feature in theater work gives a nice surrealistic look, takes some practice but worth it.

Very nice lens. The soft focus gives a very dreamy effect. The lens is tack sharp with the soft focus off. I like the fact that it gives you the choice of sharp focus or two soft focus settings. You do have to be careful, however, since the soft focus 2 setting and be overly soft. All in all, an excellent lens for the price.

be careful not to use too much of the soft effect. It ramps up quickly. the first setting is more than enough. Half way to "1" works great. Its an old school style lens and I like that simple and well made, straight to the point. Right on the money.

I use the soft focus lens with an 1DS MII body for macro, wedding and portrait photography. It provides a very nice aura around the subject giving a fairy tail like characteristic of the picture. It's rather inexpensive so the usage value vs price ratio is very good. Be careful not to over soft your picture. Canon was able to combine soft focus and autofocus features in EOS cameras

I love this lens.I use it for portraits and gymnastic even though some places I would have to use a faster lens. For most gyms its fast enough...I also like to use it on landscape and close-up. I also like to use soft focus on everything that I do.Getting some interesting results. I also use it more as a primary lens because its very sharp, I am devinitely sold on prime lenses. Even for soccer it is great just have to move around more good exercise...The soft focus was a little stiff at first but now it is fine, auto-focus is fast and quite enough for kids sports using with my canon 40D. It also did fine with car racing also. The lens auto-focus with the 6.5FPS seems to keep up with no problem in motion speed...

Comments about Canon Telephoto EF 135mm f/2.8 Autofocus Lens Soft Focus:

I bought this lens as a cheap, fast aperture telephoto lens, and it has performed wonderfully. I used it to photograph dance, as well as for portraits, and I couldn't be happier. I was glad that I could use 52mm filters on it, as I had a bunch of them from my bridge camera, and it's relatively lightweight as well. The only thing I wasn't so crazy about was that it seemed like the lens needed some time to really get "broken in" The AF seemed pretty stiff for the first 600 or so shots I took with it. My fingers would literally hurt after using it for extended sports shooting, but it seems as if it's loosened up now, and is very fast and easy to focus. The focusing isn't as quiet as a USM lens, but it's still nothing objectionable. The soft focus feature is fun to have, and I look forward to practicing using it more. Overall, a GREAT value on a versatile lens. Definitely worth getting.
