Powerful toolWhy would you want to buy this product? 1.)Remote shutter release - that can be 30 feet away with the Canon extension cable. Photograph birds in the nest. Buy the extension cable – yes it cost about $70 but, if you do this kind of photography you will need it.2.)Remote timer – delay the shutter from 1 second to 99 hours. Photograph the moon's phases over time or anything with a cycle time. Combine this function with exposure count to have more capability.3.)Interval timer – photograph a flower bloom opening –Take a photo every X seconds for days, great for time laps photography. 1 second to 99 hours with or without limits on the number of exposures.4.)Long exposure – take a 15 min exposure of a night scene, etc. - 1 second to 99 hours.5.)Set exposure count – combine this function with other functions above to limit the number of exposures taken. A Zero value = no limits on the number of exposures taken. Some reviews have complained that this tool does not have an on /off switch. You do not need an on / off switch. The battery life with this device on 24 hours a day is over three years. Does your watch need a on / off switch?Others have stated that it is limited to 99 exposures, not true. "... set to 00 (blank setting) the number of time interval shooting will be unlimited." This product works great, gives you many options to photograph special subjects, is light weight, has a night light for the display and allows you to take a photo anytime by pressing the remote shutter release. You can start or stop any function by pressing the start / stop button. Yes the buttons are small, but it works fine for me.

I have just killed my third TC-80N3 and feel the need, finally, to review this piece of equipment. The timer remote is great functionally. It does everything you could need it to do. The backlight is effective, all the controls work fine, it is reliable and does what it is supposed to.The problem is that this is now, apparently, a [$] item. I think it was closer to 120 the last time I bought one. Let me say this simply: it's not worth it. The problem with this unit is that, eventually, the cord on the timer remote end pulls out. It has happened to all 3 of my TC-80N3's that I have owned. On the last one, I actually taped the connection to the remote as soon as I took it out of the box to prevent this from happening. It helped, but finally after maybe a year and a half or two years it has pulled out again.I use the timer remote for almost every shot I take, so I am definitely a heavy user. However, for [$], the knockoffs of which sell for 20 bucks, this thing should be more durable. Use braided wire, improve the strain relief on the remote end. Having this thing fail three time for the same reason every time is not acceptable.I would advise anyone buying this to tape or otherwise try to mitigate the issues on the remote end BEFORE they become a problem. For me, I have finally had it and will be buying the knockoffs. For 20, or even 50, bucks I can afford to have a backup which will be nice. The TC-80N3 is a good piece of gear for 50 bucks. For [$] it is a tremendous ripoff and severely lacking in quality.

Comments about Canon Timer Remote Controller TC-80N3:

Four functions and they all work as advertised. I wish you could set the number of exposures for more than 99. That is a failing. It could be 999.

Works as expected

Comments about Canon Timer Remote Controller TC-80N3:

Works as expected. Use of the different functions were not completely intuitive at first but once I reviewed the manual it made sense and is very easy to use.

I did find that simultaneously pressing buttons (Mode, light, and dial) to reset all the setting to be a bit cumbersome.

Overall I would have given this product 5 stars if not for the hefty price.

Simple and reliable. Works nicely at subzero temperature. My third party timer controller was dead on spot when I was shooting at a difficult location, very upset. Hope this one does not disappoint me.

If you need an intervelometer for your Canon, this is key

Comments about Canon Timer Remote Controller TC-80N3:

Works as advertised. I had bought an off-brand version previously and it gave out after a couple of years. Decided to just go Canon and am pleased with how easy it is to operate, reading the instruction booklet not essential. I used it with a flash trigger in the hot shoe and was able to set up and then be in a series of 25 family photos, all triggered at 3 second intervals to all the flash to recharge. 1 less star because it seems a bit overpriced.

Comments about Canon Timer Remote Controller TC-80N3:

Really terrific little piece of equipment for anytime I have my 5DSR or 5Dmark3 on a tripod. It's simple and does the job flawlessly -- much better than using the 2-second delay to avoid touching the camera. I toyed with purchasing many remote control versions, but those require the hotshoe mount, and I have a Profoto Air Remote mounted there. This product works perfectly and gives me a couple of feet of cord to move around the camera. Adding a wireless remote to my inventory is always a possibility, but I can tell that this cabled version will always be with me.

Comments about Canon Timer Remote Controller TC-80N3:

Can be set in seconds or minutes (or hours which I have not used) and works well. Tried a cheaper Neewar wireless one first which was extremely frustrating to say the least don't waste your time with the cheap ones go with quality and save yourself a lot of time and frustration and missed photo ops.

Comments about Canon Timer Remote Controller TC-80N3:

I always shoot on a tripod and want to minimize vibration during an exposure. I've had one of these since I got my Mark III and decided that I needed a backup in case my original stops working while I'm out in the middle of nowhere on a photo trip. The original has been completely reliable, so investing in this backup was an easy decision. (I also got a replacement battery as well - no significant extra weight in my backpack.)

            Works Like a Charm

            By Isisunit

            from Burlington, VT

Comments about Canon Timer Remote Controller TC-80N3:

Once you learn how to operate this (in about five minutes) you're good to go. It does all that you ask of it and sometimes more. I'd consider attaching a bit of Velcro to your tripod leg and this remote to keep it from swinging in a breeze and moving the tripod while your lens is wide open - an issue that could arise with any remote attached via cable.

This device is very simple to use. I spent about 15 minutes reading through the instructions then hooked it up to my camera and I was in business. In reading the instructions I found out how to open the battery holder. I remember some comments about the battery I think I read in this review forum. Anyway, the two takeaways are (1)you open the holder with a pointy object and (2) there is no on and off switch and the battery will last about three years.

Comments about Canon Timer Remote Controller TC-80N3:

I've been using this remote primarily for long exposures and interval'd shots. So far the remote has exceeded expectations and been a very valuable tool to have out in the field for the sharpest possible images. While there ARE cheaper options, I believe this remote is worth the investment because it does everything you want out of a remote trigger. The cable is long 'enough' but could be a little bit longer. But in general I keep close to the camera and it has a great length when using on a tripod or in the studio. The different functions of the remote are a little confusing to get used to at first but the small icons on the LCD screen are clear what they mean and you can quickly configure the settings you want in a short amount of time. The screen lights up too!
