This is a very high quality bag to go along with the very high price. But the value is equal to or greater than the price. Mine is black canvas with black leather for an understated look that doesn't attract too much attention. To begin, it's an extremely light bag to carry, so when loaded with equipment, the bag is lighter than most I've tried. Then there's the quality. The canvas has a wonderful soft feel that's simply a pleasure to carry. My kit consists of a Fujifilm X-E2 with a mounted 23mm lens, a 14mm lens, a 55-200mm lens, a gorilla pod and various other sundry items. And room for plenty more, but I don't like a heavy carry. I've read in various places that the bag will not accept a laptop larger than a 13" MacBookPro. On a recent trip to NYC, it easily held the above kit + a 15" MacBook Pro. I've also carried my Nikon kit consisting of a D800 with a mounted 24-70mm lens, a 70-200mm lens and a 60mm micro lens. This was a tighter fit, but it fit. However, you'll have to hire a schlepper if you need to walk all day with this kit (just my opinion.) I've owned other Billinghams, an L2 and a 550. They shrug off use and abuse and just keep looking great.

My Fifth Billingham Bag

By Jayanand

Comments about Hadley Pro Shoulder Bag (Gray Canvas & Black Leather):

The best bags for street shooting, equally useful as a carry on, especially as they look smart and not like normal camera bags. I have been using Billingham products for decades now - this is the fifth bag I have purchased - and I have nothing but good things to say about them. I was using a Hadley Small, but needed something bigger that would accommodate a DSLR from time to time, so I purchased the Hadley Pro, which fits the bill perfectly, both for a full mirrorless kit, or a DSLR with a couple of lenses.

Comments about Hadley Pro Shoulder Bag (Khaki Canvas & Tan Leather):

I purchased my Hadley Pro in 2005. Today, in 2017, it looks and performs as new. I've purchased quite a few bags over the years, some for carrying just one camera and lens, others for a whole kit full of gear, others for just a point-and-shoot.

But it's the Hadley Pro that has survived and remains my most prized bag. It seems to be chameleon-like in its ability to keep up with and accommodate the changes in my gear ... and there have been MANY changes.

Today I packed it with my new DSLR and two lenses plus my trusty Leica X Vario with EVF, lens hood and spare cap. As usual, it was easy to make everything fit and to keep everything secure.

The dividers never seem to wear out despite the countless times I've pulled their Velcro attachments out of place and into place. The outer bag itself is easy to clean and shows only near-invisible signs of use. The leather straps haven't cracked, the stitching hasn't come undone and the pouches are still perfectly shaped.

I should have reviewed this bag a long time ago. Trust me: though it costs more than your average bag, it will pay for itself in the long run. I guess this could be said about any Billingham. Go for it. You'll never regret it.

A beautiful bag for laptops & ipads

Comments about Hadley Pro Shoulder Bag (Khaki Canvas & Tan Leather):

As always, Bellingham delivers the utmost in quality, fit and finish. This is my 3rd Billingham bag - the others being larger camera bags for multiple bodies and lenses. This bag, in my opinion is best suited for laptop/iPad/ document carrier. The main part of the bag is only 3 1/2" thickness and that is bisected by a divider which yield 2 compartments 1 3/4" wide. Two smaller front pockets provides room for accessories such as cords, mouse, batteries, disks, etc. Just what I needed!

Excellent Bag!

Comments about Hadley Pro Shoulder Bag (Sage FibreNyte & Tan Leather):

Full disclosure: I have not owned many camera bags, so take this review as it is.

Overall, a truly excellent bag!

The quality is top notch, maybe only second to Fogg bags--which are double the cost of Billingham. The stitching, the leather, the materials are all well done and securely fastened. The Fibrentye cloth, which is their proprietary canvas-like material, is lightweight and has held up very well over the last few weeks in less than ideal Boston weather. The leather is thick but pliable. The strap is just the right width to be supportive without looking like you've got a seat belt on. All of the buckles, zips and snaps are all very high quality and have stayed fastened and secured when needed.

The interior materials are also top notch. The padded section can be removed so you can edit the spaces much easier. It comes with various dividers for making your own customer section in the padded case. The snap that holds the padded case into the bag is a nice touch. The flap--which covers the top of the pouch--isn't needed, but can be tucked back into the rear of the bag if you need to. Quality of felt, velcro and padding is awesome.

The size of the bag is great. I also bought the Hadley Small for comparison, but quickly realized that it is too small for my needs. I wanted a bag to hold my Leica M2, 50 Summicron, maybe another lens or two, my Autocord TLR, accessories, film for both, wallet, keys, etc...but the Small size couldn't do it. The Hadley Pro was just right to hold all of this and potentially a bit more. Also, this bag will let me hold my D800, a 24-70 f2.8 and my 70-300 f4.5, as well!

The downside of this bag is the depth. Being a low-profile bag, I understand that the depth should not protrude too much from your body while you have it on--but be forewarned--putting my D800 into this bag in any angle will ultimately push out the bag from front to back. Don't expect to get your 4x5 in here, folks!

High recommended for street, travel and hobby.

The perfect camera bag -for me

Comments about Hadley Pro Shoulder Bag (Black Canvas & Tan Leather):

After extensive research, I decided on the Hadley Pro Shoulder Bag. Although other "bags" had great qualities and would serve my "storage" needs, I was impressed with the comments of users that had Blllingham bags going back many, many years and claiming that,"today" the bags looked "like new." The main feature that won me over was the leather opening straps - making little or no sound (NOTE: as I use the bag, the leather softens and makes less and less sound). As I do most of my photography at events (mainly concerts, recitals, plays), indoors, I like to think of myself as a "stealth photographer." My Fujifilm X-100t and X-Pro2 allow me to silence the shutter and become anonymous. The Hadley Pro allows me to maintain a quiet profile and solves the zipper, velcro, and snap/latch sound problem when I need to change lenses, add a battery etc.

As a final comment, a close friend, who has many cases and bags, loves the Hadley Pro and wants me to leave this camera bag to him in my will. Since I plan to live forever, he will have to purchase his own!!!

Comments about Hadley Pro Shoulder Bag (Gray Canvas & Black Leather):

I first acquired a Billingham camera bag while living in England probably in 1977. I was impressed with their quality then and continue to be today. That original bag had more air miles and saw some beautiful parts of the world. It was never a disappointment. Shortly after the original, I acquired one of the first of the Hadley series. Again absolutely top quality. And served very well for years. For a couple of reasons I have neither of the originals. But, there arose a need for a bag of this style again. I got mine for Christmas and we got this one for my wife. The quality that I cam to rely on is still very much present. The Billingham company continues to make extremely high quality products, well designed and great craftsmanship.

Comments about Hadley Pro Shoulder Bag (Sage FibreNyte & Tan Leather):

I've had the Hadley Small and the Stowaway Compact. I added the Hadley Pro when I needed more space for Olympus E-M1 II, Pan Leica 100-400 (attached) plus my Pen F and a few other lenses.

Same great quality as all Billingham bags and "fits" the bill. I'm sold on Billingham

I would buy this bag again with a removable shoulder strap

By Joachim

Comments about Hadley Pro Shoulder Bag (Black Canvas & Leather):

I like the appearance of the bag very much as it is not the usual cube. There is enough space inside the bag for my Nikon D7200 with a 18-300 mm lens attached and more room for two or three more lenses depending on their size. All this can be easily carried by its top handle. The shoulder strap is in its way as same is not, again not, detachable. This is a big minus as the bag is expensive enough to afford a removable shoulder strap.

Great bag just slightly too small for two dslrs and a few accessories. For o e camera it would be just about right. I would just like a little more space to store a rain jacket and a few snacks for traveling. Build quality is top of the line and the straps are surprisingly functional

Is this the perfect camera bag?

By Rangefinder Richard

Comments about Hadley Pro Shoulder Bag (Black Canvas & Tan Leather):

Like all other camera bags, the Billingham Hadley Pro can be considered in the context of comparison with other bags. That said, here are the other bags I have that it can be compared to: the Billingham briefcase, the Billingham Series 3 bag (now discontinued, but similar to the L4), and the Domke F-803 (one of my favorite camera bags).

Of all of these other bags, the Domke F-803 is the most similar in shape and size. The style of the other Billingham bags matches the Billingham Hadley Pro. Some photographers may look down upon those who buy for that reason. But let's be honest. People don't buy a Ferrari just for its performance—it's also the styling. All Billingham bags offer great protection with the padding and water protection. But they also look great. If you need to carry both a briefcase and a camera bag, why not have them match?

So, since I own these other bags, why did I spend the extra money for the Billingham Hadley Pro? It carries more gear than the Billingham Series 3 and it's faster to get to the equipment inside. The size is almost the same as the Domke F-803, but is waterproof while the Domke is not. The rear pocket of the Hadley Pro is zippered, while the Domke is not. The padding provided for the Hadley Pro and the divider for the Domke offer similar levels of protection—adequate, but not as much as the Billingham Series 3, which has stiffer padding as well as plywood at the base of the bag and metal studs at the bottom so that the bag can be set down without falling over.
.
I carry a Minolta CLE rangefinder with 28, 40, and 90 mm lenses, a flash, some other accessories, and an Apple iPad. Plenty of room for everything. The big pockets on the front are useful and close with snaps instead of Velcro.

The bag does not include the excellent shoulder pad, so be sure to order it if you buy the bag.

Well Designed !

By Christian

Comments about Hadley Pro Shoulder Bag (Black Canvas & Tan Leather):

The Billingham Hadley Pro shoulder bag is very well designed for (in my case) two camera bodies (Nikon DF and a Fuji X Pro 1) as well as 3 lens (Nikkor 50 1.4 , nikkor 135 2.8 , and a Zeiss 35 ) and a Nikon SB-900 flash. Additional accessories, batteries and wall chargers also fit uncramped with easy access.
The workmanship on this bag is amazing, with all the possible stress points being reinforced .
This is one bag that can justify the price. It's definitely worth it.

This is the best bag I have ever purchased. I use it everyday. I carry a  D750 and 3 lens as well as all the other items any woman would carry in her purse. I take it ever where and no one thinks I am carrying a camera bag. Beautiful leather and smooth canvas makes a wonderful combination. My friends have given me great compliments on my "purse" :-)  The perfect bag!
