Great Sturdy Tripod

By James

Comments about Manfrotto 475B Pro Geared Tripod with Geared Column:

I am using this tripod to hold a 90mm widefield refractor on a TeleVue Cradle. All my other tripods shook the view whenever I touched the focus. This tripod is a bit beefier than all the previous yet still light enough to carry even when Telescope Mounted. I might not want to carry it on a 5 mile hike but other than that this thing is perfect for my use.

Comments about Manfrotto 475B Pro Geared Tripod with Geared Column:

Once you tote the Tripod with a Manfrotto 405 head and a Canon 1DS III plus pro lens onto your real estate shoot you can cancel your trip to the gym. It is steady provided you lock all your set screws.

Rock solid

By Mike

Comments about Manfrotto 475B Pro Geared Tripod with Geared Column:

I purchased this with a motorized Bescor unit and the 496RC2 ball head for my remote photography. The first thing I noticed was the weight. Heavy but in a positive way. It's rock solid, stays put and gave me confidence leaving an expensive camera/lens combination alone and away from me. I've had a Manfrotto monopod for over ten years and that led me to this product. Worth the price. Quality build and easy to use. I won't hesitate to buy another Manfrotto product.

Big, Stable Legs

By Eric

Comments about Manfrotto 475B Pro Geared Tripod with Geared Column:

I've been buying this model of flash from Bogen and now Manfrotto since the late 1970s. I currently have three, as I don't like to change heads between ball, pano and gimbal. If you need tripod legs for heavy camera/lens loads, and stability this is my favorite.

Comments about Manfrotto 475B Pro Geared Tripod with Geared Column:

This tripod is sturdy, slick, perfectly designed for easy use and simple excellent!
I got a Manfrotto 410 Junior Geared Head with it and together I could not be happier.
My first shoot with the new gear was architectural photography...and the new gear made setting up and adjusting shots super smooth and simple.

Great Platform for my APM 100 mm Binoculars

By Jimmy Two Eyes

from Plano Texas

Verified Buyer

Comments about Manfrotto 475B Pro Geared Tripod with Geared Column:

I purchased the Manfrotto 475B tripod to use with my APM 100mm binoculars. The binoculars and head weigh more than 18 pounds so I needed a robust stable tripod. The Manfrotto 475B delivers what it promises. The tripod easily supports my binocular setup even with fully extended legs and column. I use the binoculars primarily for astronomical viewing so there is a lot of looking up. The geared column makes very easy to get the binocular eyepieces to a comfortable viewing position for both while seated in my observing chair or standing. The tripod remains stable even while focusing the binoculars which is big plus for me. I would recommend this tripod to anyone who needs a stable platform for big binoculars

Comments about Manfrotto 475B Pro Geared Tripod with Geared Column:

I've owned Manfrotto products for years and have been very happy with them. I recently decided to upgrade my current, smaller, lighter, carbon fiber tripod with something a little more sturdy. I discovered my moon shots, no matter how I shot them, were not crisp and sharp. They were ok.... but ok wasn't getting it. Using Canon's new 50MP 5DS and a 300mm f.28 should have produced some spectacular images. Using the tripod and a wireless remote to fire the camera and locking the mirror up still didn't do it, so I have to surmize the culprit was the tripod. Turns out is was. Now I grant you, the 475B is a beast. It is heavy. It is cumbersome. It is metal. It has no strap and requires two-hands to operate the crank. BUT... it's as rock-solid as a tripod and be, and, although I still use the smaller one for fairly routine stuff, when I want rock solid images from a distance, this is the tripod for the job.

Comments about Manfrotto 475B Pro Geared Tripod with Geared Column:

this is a bit cumbersome for a 5'4" person of small frame, but worth it to have rock-solid steadiness. I composite and do long exposures, so if you need your rig to withstand some wind and accidental nudges, this is it. All the parts ensure fine-tune adjustments

Comments about Manfrotto 475B Pro Geared Tripod with Geared Column:

I work in a TV station, and amazingly, this tripod is heavier than the commercial production team's Manfrottos. It's truly a beast, but steady as a rock, and I have little trouble hauling it around using my fluid head handle to carry it. It does clank when you're extending the legs, so not recommended for stealth bird-watching set-ups, but for video purposes it's right on the money. Has the look and feel of something that will last a long time. Only nit to pick is the center column crank handle. You have to two-hand the release while you unfold the handle, and there's lots of spring-loaded resistance. This could have been better designed. Not a big deal. Love the unit, and would definitely recommend to other reasonably strong shooters. Weight could put off some smaller of stature.

      Fantastic Video Tripod

      By Budman49

      from New Smyrna Beach, Fl

Comments about Manfrotto 475B Pro Geared Tripod with Geared Column:

This tripod is very stable and of excellent build. The cross braces add to the stability. The quick release plate allows for front to rear adjustment. The gear crank column is smooth and makes elevation changes quick and easy. The only thing I don't like is the weight. I prefer carbon fiber but the cost is nearly double; none the less this is a great tripod.

      Beast of a Tripod

      By Budman49

from New a Smyrna Beach, Fl

Comments about Manfrotto 475B Pro Geared Tripod with Geared Column:

This is a big, stable tripod. I would have preferred carbon fiber for the weight but the cost was not justified. The tripod is fully adjustable and the cross braces add good stability. I'll tote it when I have to, but only for short distances. The crank works great and makes height adjustment a no brainer. Great video tripod.
