Good for its price. The best part is the angled umbrella hole with makes it easier to set up umbrella. I ended using it in complete reverse mode. I removed the brass colored barrels and swap them at the ends which allowed me to mount flash along axis of the umbrella. It is a bit larger than it needs to be. It does not take SB 900 flash or other flashes. Not very happy with the machining of the hot shoe and the hold screw is a bit flimsy.Given the issue with the hot shoe, you can get comparable brackets on [*]for 1/3 or 1/4 of the price.Should be priced $-$ less at retail.

Comments about Impact Umbrella Bracket:

Very poor material and easy to brake. In the second day after I purchased this bracket I was sitting trying to screw it on my Light-stand and slipped out of my hands and broke in half! I am talking about less 3ft hight!
Very disappointed

The Essential Flash Accessory

By kspradleyphoto

Comments about Impact Umbrella Bracket:

I use strobes/speedlights for most of my photo shoots because I am often on location somewhere away from power. So having the right light stands and brackets is a must. I have several of these brackets and they are the quintessential accessory I need. Perfect for not just put on a flash, but to use a flash and an umbrella or light diffuser. These are super compact, sturdy and will last you a long time.

It works well, except that I find the cold shoe does not like to stay screwed on tight.

Great device for my photography equipment

By Maceo

Comments about Impact Umbrella Bracket:

Great product for small family gatherings such as holidays, birthdays and capturing valuable moments indoors and outdoors.

My main purpose was for such... I have purchased three of these for my speedlites, and strategically place them in multiple rooms for ample lighting. In addition, they work great for portrait photography in a small room and out in the park.

Will I purchase this product again? Yes, I am going to purchase three more.

Do I find the price reasonable? Yes, the local camera shops charge more money for a similar product. So, why not purchase from B&H? The shipping was free and the cost was good.

I highly recommend this product...

Solid materials just as good as metal comparialble products. If your using the holder on a daily basis, then I recommend metal.

I like it, but...

Comments about Impact Umbrella Bracket:

Solid, and i use it with heavier light modifiers. Quite satisfactory.
HOWEVER, when i bought it i did not see the compatibility issue for a Canon 600EX-RT. I had my flash fall off the light stand and get damaged as a result of a poor connection with the cold shoe.  I may try a new cold-shoe to see if i can get a better fit. Until then, i'll keep the 600EX on a different bracket and put a less expensive (e.g. Yongnuo) flash on this bracket.

Works well, but be careful with it

By luke

Comments about Impact Umbrella Bracket:

I am rating this 4 stars because it is inexpensive consumer grade product - it will be fine, but you must be careful with it. I have read reviews here of similar speedlite umbrella adapters complaining that the speedlite will not hit the center of the umbrella. I found that it does - there is a silver label on the upper part of this adapter. If that label is facing the umbrella, the light can be centered. Be sure to set the umbrella as far from the speedlite as possible and set your speedlight to the widest setting and you will illuminate most of the umbrella. Also, do no overtighten the set screw that holds the umbrella, or it will dent or crush the umbrella shaft. If you know all that going in, this product will work for you and be a great value

inexpensive holder for my speedlight and umbrella

Comments about Impact Umbrella Bracket:

This is a cheap way to get the job done, it holds the speed light and the umbrella in place. Like I said it is for someone who does not want to spend money on a set up it works for my purpose.

Materials

Comments about Impact Umbrella Bracket:

Okay, I'm just disappointed in all budget plastic Impact products because they don't last. Three out of three brackets fall apart after a mild windy accident. This bracket in particular will brake after the first fall because the quality of their plastic is extremely low. Take into the consideration that you'll put an expansive speed light on this guy, and ask your self if you'd like to risk $900 on your next shoot on location.
