The bag provides good amount of storage. I do strobist type lighting so I use it for storing my lighting stands and accessories. It comfortably holds (2) 8' Impact light stands, (1) larger Manfrotto tripod, (1) monopod, and (3) collapsible umbrellas. It can be carried by sturdy handles or by a shoulder bag, both work very well. The top opens up fully making loading and accessing equipment very easy. It is zippered with the zippers on both sides, the two sides are opened at the same time with a single strap. Sometimes I work from the back of my hatchback or in tight spaces, I can still easily access things. There is also a practical small window at the end where smaller items (ballhead, clamps...) can be accessed. Though I usually don't use this.
Material seem sturdy and the bag is well constructed except the zipper quality is weak. I had to return the bag once because the zipper seperated. The bag material, handles and carrying strap is very sturdy, difficult to understand why the zipper was made so weak.
I would recommend the product, good price and value but be careful when closing the zipper.

I teach Digital Photography at a University. We have gotten about 15 of these in the last 5 years as they come packaged with the light kits we buy.

I agree with the other reviewer that the shoulder strap is placed in a way that makes a full load unbalanced. However, my bigger complaint is the build quality. None of them has lasted more than 2 years. The most common problem is the zippers pull out - most often the zipper pulls off the track where the plastic loops of the zipper uncoil and the slider will not go on again. Sometimes The whole zipper track pulls off of the case itself - even when the bag is well under its carry weight. Sometimes the fabric rips and it reveals the padding and boards inside.

The size is good, and the shape is good, but they are not built for repeated use. I can track how many times each case has gone out and we average 25-40 excursions per case. I am sure that not all students treat them with the care I would, but they are mostly taking the lights to and from home (we do not have battery packs for field work).

Affordable and useful

This is an affordable solution for me. I have a cart I take in and out of high rise office buildings for my Atlanta Headshot business. The rigid sides protect the zipper and stack on the cart well.

Good bag but not for heavy usage

Good for light use only.. not constructed for heavy usage.. price indicates quality.. very useful in terms of dimensions but would recommend loading up no more the 20lbs max. to get extended life out of this bag

Excellent bag for long light stands and other grip gear.

By Jack

I am a career film maker that travels everyday with a great deal of gear. I have looked for a long time to find a bag that will carry all of my light stands. I carry about 8 stands of various sizes and this bag does the job. I like the fact that it can open from the top and from the end. Many times we are working in a small area and being able to stand the bag on end and access the stands is a big advantage. The build quality is very good with enough padding to protect the contents but not so stiff it gets in the way. Great bag if you need to pack large light stands and other grip gear.

Great carrying case! I have 2 40" umbrellas and 2 stands. I also have 2 flashes in their boxes and there is still plenty of room if I need to expand. It looks and feels very well built! Very sturdy. No complaints

Good Gear

I use this for my travelling flash set up--two 8' stands, two 36" double-folding umbrellas, two speedlights, snoot, radio triggers & receivers and maybe an extra camera if the camera bag gets bloated. Not putting it through heavy paces on the subway etc. like other reviewers, but using it more to keep everything in one spot and all tidy--and to keep me from forgetting things.

Looks Good on Paper, but Poorly Made

By Matt Long

from Montana

This bag easily holds the bits and pieces for a location lighting setup utilizing speed lights, but I wouldn't recommend using this for moonlights AND light stands -- I prefer having my lights/strobes in protective cases if they are sharing the same space with my light stands. This preference precludes the use of this bag with moonlights and stands.

The Achilles Heel of this case is the cheap construction -- poor stitching and flimsy zippers will soon relegate this case to the trash can. In my experience, the main flap stitching soon came apart and was then followed by the zipper failing. The final straw was when the snap hook on the shoulder strap broke (the metal hook itself, not the strap), and I was nowhere close to approaching the stated 35 pound load capacity.

My advice to anyone looking for this type of bag is to look for something with heavy duty zippers, as this is usually the first thing to fail.

Great Product! Great Value

I just purchased this product to hold a new lighting kit I received for my birthday. I looked around and found similar items, but what sold me was the top zippered section and also the end. I feel this will make it very easy to remove items from the bag. I am just starting out with portrait photography, so anything that will make it a easier start is great. The bag is very durable and pleasing to the eye. This is also a great value, other cheaper looking bag were more money.

The Way A Bag Should Be Built

By peterbestof

This bag replaces an earlier round bag. I chose it specifically because it was square and the right length for taking gear on location jobs. It fits much better on my hand truck's rear platform. Holds enough light stands, tripod, FOBA tubes, and Chimera light box for what I need. Makes a great package, looks tidy and neat when going to clients. Two sided zipper and separate end access are well thought out design features. Just right!

Fits a lot of light stands and reflectors. But the bag is padded and I think it weighs in at 3 pounds. That can be a lot of extra when you're grip truck is the subway.

There is plenty of space in here for light kit this bag comes with. I ordered the kit and the bag was included. The bag arrived and had a problem with the zipper. One of the teeth was missing making the bag stick when trying to zip up. B&H was helpful enough to replace, but I had to ship it to them first before they would send a replacement. The second bag arrived with some stitching issues again on the zipper. I guess I will have to live with it, as I don't want to wait again for another replacement bag. Poor quality control or manufacturing process.

I'm very impressed with the quality versus cost ratio. I had expected a cheaper bag with this being an economical alternative to other similar type use bags. So far they have held up exceptionally well. They did have a very distinct off gassing period though, But that's passed after a few days, Basically the room we keep our gear smelt of fresh nylon/plastic.

Dual zipper is nice and the shoulder strap is beneficial when carrying 2 at a time, I managed to destroy 2 bags from my Westcott Rapid Box system. Hopefully these hold up better.

Great simple bag and great for the price. Fits 3-4 light stands plus umbrellas plus plus plus. Could really need a side pocket or two for small items. Don't expect to take this on an airplane without having to add a towel or two to protect your stuff.

The old saying, 'you get what you pay for' works for this product. Some light stand bags/tripod bags can be over hundreds of dollars, so with this being under $[$], expect it to feel that way. Is that a bad thing? No! This bag gets the job done. I have a tripod, monopod, 3 light stands, and a boom pole that can all fit nicely in the bag. There's also room for lights if you wanted as power strips or extension cords. It doesn't have a lot of padding but it's not a big deal for me. It works and I'm happy with it!

Could use additional pockets but a great quality bag wth tons of room. Can't say this will hold up being tossed around a ton, so make sure your product is additionally protected.

I haven't had this light kit bag very long, but it is exactly what I wanted. I have a couple of lights in it, plus a variety of other items that I need for video shoots. I have another bag for my light stands.
I would be careful not to overfill this bag, as with nylon bags of any kind, if you strain the zipper seams too often you will get separation.
But it seems solid so far.
