I bought the Sigma 10-20mm Wide Angle because of its ability to shoot interior shots of high end homes that I list as a professional real estate agent. I first started using the lens in new construction homes. The set up that we used to shoot model homes and custom builds was the 10-20mm with a Canon T2i. Now I have moved up the the T3i and bought a sigma for myself. I shoot in HDR and the lens really make the homes come alive. It gives you a natural looking wide angle without much distortion on the far edges. Plus if you are using program like photoshot CS6 you can fix any extra curving with the Wide Angle Correction Fliter.

The lens is WELL worth the money. I really don't need any other lens for what I do inside when I shoot professional Real Estate Photos.

Other reviews rave how sharp this is but I found it lacking. Pretty sharp for objects close-up but kinda soft for high-end landscape use. Fine details such as branches and leaves get mushed. I wasn't expecting Canon "L" quality but for wide open landscape shots it's a little disappointing throughout the focal length. The lens is really sharp at close distances such as 8-10ft. making it ideal for artistic photography. The lens itself is durable, comes with a quality case and lens hood! So that reason alone might sway you to buy this lens. A little heavy, but nothing to gripe about.

Great Wide Angle Lens

By Ryan

Comments about Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM Lens for Canon EF Mount:

This lens is wonderful for specific shots. Definitely not something you would throw on as a go to lens but it's awesome for interior work (I shoot real estate and yachts so tight spaces are common). It's also great for nature shots and even some fun perspectives of people. There is some distortion around the edges when shooting at the widest focal length but all in all I love this lens. Although I am definitely looking to upgrade to the fixed 3.5 aperture sometime, this does the job for now.

Center focus not bad. Surrounding area terrible at any aperture. Maybe f3.5 is better. Don't know

Comments about Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM Lens for Canon EF Mount:

I purchased this lens for doing interior product images. The ultra-wide angle is really good in small rooms. It's also pretty good for Landscapes, although it's not quite as sharp when doing long exposures and to me it's a little too wide for Landscape images.
I had shot some of my first long exposure images with it using a 3-stop ND filter and I was about 50 or so yards from the Pier shooting at 20mm and found it a little difficult to avoid having too much space around the main subject, see attached sample image. Other than that it's a really great lens too add to your bag.

Comments about Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM Lens for Canon EF Mount:

I wanted a ultra wide angle (UWA) lens for some time now and my need has been fulfilled with this lens. Although the lens is encased in a plastic housing it still feels sturdy and the barrel rotates smoothly throughout its zoom. It does however, move in the opposite direction of my other zoom lens and that takes some getting used to.
There is a little barrelling in the center as well as some distortion at the ends which is to be expected of a UWA.
Because its a UWA, it allows a wee bit more light to reach the sensor which helps a bit in low light conditions. However, I would not buy it just for this reason, but it does help when every bit of extra light is needed.
Overall I am satisfied with this lens.

I do notice some distortion at the edges, as well as some barrelling in the center, which is to be expected with an UWA. It allows a wee bit more light in to the sensor as a result of its wide angle which helps a bit in low light conditions.

I use this lens for many different things, from landscape photography, to real estate photography, and also video on a glidecam. It is incredible in all its uses, and it has made the production value of my videos and the quality of my photos so much better. It is tack sharp, and has no vignetting. There is however some considerable chromatic aberration, but it is removable in photoshop or lightroom. It is an incredible lens, and i would recommend it for anyone who needs an ultra-wide.

This lens was the perfect choice for my first lens after the kit lens. It provides an amazingly wide view and its quality is really incredible. I was deciding between this lens and the Canon lens that was very similar and I am very happy I chose this one instead. I like the little bit of extra weight over the canon because the less plasticy feel makes for a much better shooting experience.

I recently bought the lens to complete my gear set. I am very happy with the quality of the Sigma lens, and the photographs it gives. I have not taken that many yet but the sharpness and colors given by this lens is very acceptable. I have taken close-up photos of flowers with raindrops on them and they are on par with my Canon L glass lens. Build quality is excellent as usual for Sigma. the only drawback I can see is there is no image stabilization. But for the price and great delivery from B&H, you can't go wrong. This lens is the older version but had better reviews, hence my purchase.

This lens replaced a 12-24mm lens I had, and works it's magic very well. Close focus ability without expected distortion was my very first photo experience with this lens. I've used it on a Canon 70D primarily. Fast focus, extreme depth of field and very little distortion add up to a great lens. The EX designation from Sigma ranks it right alongside of Canon L glass in my opinion. I'd recommend this lens to anyone in need of a super-wide.

I used to have this model for Nikon. Now that I switched to Canon I bought it again since it's my favorite lens for landscapes.

While it's not a "top of the line" L lens it has a nice solid feeling, the images are sharp and the colors look great. I never had an issue with vignetting or crazy chromatic aberration, not even on the borders. I normally stay at f8-f16 while shotting with it.

Simple and easy to use, very light, it has a nice angle of view. As with every wide angle, you'll notice the distortion if you shoot at a pronounce angle which sometimes produces a nice effect, depending on the subject. When shooting leveled, distortion is minimum, according to the distance you're shooting on the 10-20 mm scale.

                        It just works for me.

Comments about Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM Lens for Canon EF Mount:

This is amazing lens for the price and easily in the big bang for your buck. You are getting what your paying for, and the sharpness of the lens won't support harsh crops but is sufficient with slight crops. I found this lens to be slightly sharper than the sigma 10-20 f/3.5 at f/8 and f/11 which to me are the primary aperture for a landscape lens. This is a great addition to any photographer with a aps-c sensor (start camera bodies). My only negative for this lens is it lack of a stabilization so it does suffer in low light, but I've regularly got to 1/30 with good form and breathing control
