Comments about Wimberley WH-200 Gimbal Tripod Head II with Quick Release Base:

I purchased this to hold my Nikon 300 mm f2.8 lens and it works perfectly. Built like a tank, I have no fear that my lens will fall and it allows better handling overall when shooting sports. For anyone that has invested in an expensive lens, I highly recommend having the added piece of mind my using the Wimberley WH-200.

Best Gimbal for my use

Comments about Wimberley WH-200 Gimbal Tripod Head II with Quick Release Base:

I knew this was a top product a 18 months ago, but budget limitations made the Manfrotto 393 Heavy Telephoto Lens Support my choice at that time. A good choice for many, but I was increasingly frustrated with the difficulty in accessing my lens and keeping it locked in place for lunar and other photography. After working with the Wimberley WH 200 II, it works as well as you would expect a gimbal in this price range to perform. Solid construction, easy to use, locks tight when you need it and just makes shooting with a bigger lens like the Tamron G2 150-600mm fun. Before I purchased it, I had several questions and emailed Wimberley direct; they were quick to respond and answer my questions. Same great service that B&H has always given me.

Really Nice!

Comments about Wimberley WH-200 Gimbal Tripod Head II with Quick Release Base:

I just recently obtained a 600 F4 and have been struggling to do bird photography with a ball head for several months, very frustrating. A Gimbal head is a must for this kind of thing. The Wimberley had excellent reviews so I bought one. It is such an improvement! Simple design and very high quality! Perfect for my purposes.

Great Performer

Comments about Wimberley WH-200 Gimbal Tripod Head II with Quick Release Base:

Considered a top performer in the gimbal head line up. It's well made, smooth and easy to use. The friction adjustments are nice and lock solidly when that's your intention. It's surprisingly light for it's size and there are a wide range of accessories available to make the head more versatile. I especially like the flash adapter which can be used separately on an RRS "L" bracket. I use my WH-200 on a Gitzo Systematic coupled with an RRS leveling head for nature and landscape work. Rock solid performance all the way around.

Comments about Wimberley WH-200 Gimbal Tripod Head II with Quick Release Base:

Purchased this to install in on Induro tripod CLT-403 to mount Nikon 600mm len about 10 lbs. Although costly, but it is designed and made with solid good material. You will feel the quality once you receive and use it. Everything is smooth and secured. There is no regret. Make sure to purchase the accessories right the first time. It's a nice product and highly recommended.

I use the GimbaL Tripod Head for shooting birds in flight. It allows me to follow the flight of the bird and get the picture. When I need to get a good steady picture, the Gimbal Tripod Head is steady as a rock allowing for that good firm shot.

The Gimbal Tripod Head works well in combination with my Gitzo tripod and p30 Quick release plate. My 150-600 mm lens feels secure with this set up. No complaints.

Hope it will last a life time.

Comments about Wimberley WH-200 Gimbal Tripod Head II with Quick Release Base:

This gimbal head is amazing! The first time I put it on my tripod and used it, I realized why this gimbal head is the industry standard. Everything is super smooth, and movement is natural. It is quite heavy, but that's the price you pay for stability and durability.

If you are a wildlife shooter handholding a big lens, this is an essential, as you've probably already heard.

Wonderful Gimbal tripod head! I use it with my canon 500mm lens. It is very strong. It moves smoothly in all directions. I use it for Wildlife and Birding. I have nothing negative to say. It is awesome! The Whimberly Company is also excellent to deal with. B&H is excellent as usual.

Comments about Wimberley WH-200 Gimbal Tripod Head II with Quick Release Base:

My first impression was that the product was sturdy and up to the task of balancing large telephoto and zoom lenses. Set up was quick and easy. I haven't used it in the field yet, but I do not expect any problems.

I should have bought this years ago...

Comments about Wimberley WH-200 Gimbal Tripod Head II with Quick Release Base:

Wish I had bought this sooner. The price for a Wimberly kept me from purchasing it for quite awhile, I just couldn't see how it could be worth so much more than other brands. A few years ago I bought a cheaper version and it worked OK so why get the Wimberly? When I got a rebate on some other equipment I decided to get what other photographers refer to as the best. I had no idea how much better it could be! I instantly fell in love with it, the ease of movement with my camera is amazing, it feels like the camera and lens are floating in air. This makes tracking things like flying birds so much easier. Additionally the lens locks into the head much more securely than the other brand I own which is a big plus when lenses are so expensive. Wish I had bought this first, I would have had a lot more keeper shots, but I'll make up for that now. Quality of the head, instructions for use, ease of use and security of the lens to head are the very best. I'm now another photographer saying if you are going to invest in top end equipment, the gimbal head you need is the Wimberly.

Comments about Wimberley WH-200 Gimbal Tripod Head II with Quick Release Base:

Coupled to a Manfrotto 290 tripod, the rig seemed a bit cumbersome at first. Once in the field, it made using my 600mm a whole lot easier. Don't know how I got along without it.

Comments about Wimberley WH-200 Gimbal Tripod Head II with Quick Release Base:

I've only had the opportunity to take this out once so far, but that was enough to know that I love it! Wow, what a relief it is not to have to hand hold my 200-500. I do think a gimbal slightly restricts movement that you'd otherwise get with hand holding. On the other hand, the gimbal prevents the shake I get from tired arms, so it's a well-worth it trade-off .
