I just purchased this bag to complement my F-803 satchel, which I use for most assignments.

I'm a working photojournalist and I like to travel light. I bought this bag for a very specific purpose, to carry one Leica M rangefinder camera and one extra lens and/or extra film. I often carry my larger domke when shooting events or more serious work, but when I'm walking around exploring a place or doing street photography, often I just need one camera, maybe an extra lens and a place to keep extra rolls of film. Sometimes a bag isn't needed, but it's nice to have a place to put the camera if the weather turns foul or if I need to enter a place where I don't want to show off my camera.

This bag is perfect for my purposes. It's a great bag for pro shooters using small gear wanting to be discrete and travel very light.

It can hold a Leica MP with a lens mounted and another lens, with some room left over for film, and not much else.

I love the velcro flap combined with the interior zipper closure, which should make the bag fairly pilfer-proof.

My one complaint is the large red domke tag on the front flap, since I didn't want the bag to look like a camera bag. Fortunately, it's nothing that couldn't be fixed with 30 seconds and a sharp pair of scissors.

It's a wonderful little bag, and judging by the longevity of my 803, which I've had for over ten years and which has been all over the world, I'm sure it will hold up well.

I was looking for a bag to keep my camera in as I walk around taking photos. It would be nice to have room for another lens, maybe car keys and a phone, or a pair of sunglasses. Many rangefinder forum users suggested this bag, so I purchased one. The price was inexpensive enough to take a chance without having seen the bag in person. It's well made, but it doesn't seem well designed. The main compartment is covered by a flap that is held in place by LouD velcro attachments. There are no pockets in the flap, so it is apparently only there to keep out the rain: slightly inconvenient. The main compartment is additionally has a zipper along the top center. The problem is that the top is shaped such that the sides don't completely open, so getting things in and out is inconvenient and the item will rub against the zipper as well. The included separator provides a section for the camera and whatever else is along for the ride which is fine for bigger things. A separate pocket for the little things is useful as well and this bag has two. Unfortunately, they appear to be designed to each hold a single lens cap, and don't have their own closure, instead relying on the bag flap. They may reliably hold onto something, but I'm not betting on it. Nice shoulder strap, nice size, I like the simplicity in concept. I might cut off the flap, sew on a full size external pocket, and do something about widening the top opening, and then I'd have a perfect bag!

A Great Bag for a Small Camera

Comments about F-5XA Shoulder and Belt Bag, Small (Olive):

This is a very study bag with a wide, comfortable carrying strap. The large flap covers the zippered top to provide reliable dust and weather protection.

I bought this for an Olympus EPL2 that I use as a walking-around camera when I don't want to carry the big SLR, especially when I'm working outdoors on conservation land and sometimes have chance-encounters with wildlife, plants, insects, etc. The camera with attached hot-shoe electronic viewfinder and 14-42 full-size lens (not the pancake model) fit perfectly with room left over for a second lens or a notebook and cellphone. The two pockets under the flap are small, but big enough for a spare battery, SD card, lens cap and lens cloth. I also added a waist strap through the belt-loop on the back so I can keep the bag from dangling when I'm working outdoors.

Comments about F-5XA Shoulder and Belt Bag, Small (Olive):

The F-5XA was purchased to fit my take (almost) everywhere kit of Panasonic GX85, 12-32mm f/3.5-5.6, 35-100mm f/4-5.6, and 20mm f/1.7. Everything fits well -- the camera and one lens mounted on one side of the provided partition, and the other two lenses back to back (glued together back-caps) on the other side. A spare battery, memory cards, two filters, and some cleaning stuff fit in the front pockets.

Like my other Domke bags (F-5XB, F-5XC), I like the canvas, minimalist padding, strap, and overall look. It's a good bag to work out of -- I leave the zipper open and just flip the flap to access the camera.

What I don't like is the abundance of velcro, but a couple of reverse velcro patches block all but a small strip. It would be great if Domke could build in "silencers" as other manufacturers do. The other thing to watch is that the front pockets don't have closures. This bag is NOT waterproof, but I just came back from a 1.5 hour walk in the rain, and no water made it through the top flap.

Comments about F-5XA Shoulder and Belt Bag, Small (Black):

Like all Domke bags, quality is great. Really like the size of this... fits my X-T1 with lens attached PLUS another lens. So a 2 lens walking around kit. On shoots, works well to hold two larger SLR lenses while I have camera in hand.

Nice amount of padding without being too bulky and stiff. It's a Domke bag so some may think it's not enough protection but I've always found their bags just right.

Only negative is wish it opened just clam-style like. Seems redundant to have zippers and a flap. The opening gets in the way a little.

Comments about F-5XA Shoulder and Belt Bag, Small (Sand):

I use this bag to carry a Sony A6000 with a Sony 28/2, and a Sony NEX-6 with a Sony 20/2.8 pancake lens attached. Both cameras fit perfectly (neither snugly nor loosely) back-to-back in the camera bag with the divider situated exactly in the middle between them. Quality is every bit as impressive as Domke's higher end offerings.

Comments about F-5XA Shoulder and Belt Bag, Small (Olive):

I purchased this bag for my Fujifilm x100T. I wanted a durable bag, small enough to carry al day. I have recently downsized from a DSLR system that needed a backpack for camera, lenses and accessories. This bag fits my camera with the lens hood perfectly. There is also a small interior padded section within the bag for batteries and a wasabi charger. The outside pockets hold my only filter, a circular polarizer, and my small notebook. On a recent airline flight I was able to fit the bag inside my carryon daypack with room to spare. It is rugged, with a plain and simple design. Just what I wanted!

I bought this bag to carry my Fuji x100t and it fits perfectly in one of the pouches with the charger, cables and spare battery in the other pouch with plenty of room for addition accessories if need be. I wanted a bag that didn't look like a camera bag so it was inconspicuous during travel. This bag is solidly made and is heavy duty without being heavy or awkward.

Comments about F-5XA Shoulder and Belt Bag, Small (Sand):

I've got lots of Domke's going back to the 1990's. I've packed them extensively through many parts of the world including places that are quite hard on camera bags. Many show wear but none have worn out.Recently I wanted to reduce my back load and decided to go with the Fujifilm X-T1 with the 18-55mm lens. Naturally I looked for a Domke bag appropriate to such an outfit. From the measurements, this one (the F-5XA) seemed the best fit.Indeed, it is a perfect fit for the X-T1 with attached 18-55mm, the hood, flash, and one extra battery. By perfect fit I mean that the bag exactly holds these items with no wasted or excess space. The zipper on the main compartment was one requirement for this buy. Due to this design feature, you do need to open the zipper all the way and slightly manipulate the camera out of (or back into) the bag. There is not enough clearance on any side to simply lift the camera straight out. This is not a significant problem unless you see a shot so fleeting that you needed to have the camera already out and around your neck to get the shot. It's just something to keep in mind.Although my other Domke's all come with compartments where I often keep other travel items (like wallet, cell phone, sun glasses, in some cases a bottle of water), the small auxiliary compartments on the front of the F-5XA will only hold filters, credit cards, coins or folded currency, and similar items. Other than the main flap, gravity and a little friction, there would be nothing holding items in these compartments. It is a small bag, after all, and that is why I bought it.

Comments about F-5XA Shoulder and Belt Bag, Small (Sand):

I use this bag to carry my FujiFilm X-E1, extra memory card and battery, lens pen and lens hood. Bought it so i may expand to a second lens. It is very well made and should outlast the camera. The light color is important to me to keep the black camera cool in the blazing sun here (and so I can find it), and it works well.
My biggest complaint is the two front pockets have no closure, if the bag were to invert, I think the extra card, battery and etc. would spill. Mea culpa, I didn't think about it when ordering but the velcro flap closure makes a big ripping noise hence no sneaking the camera out. Would prefer a Common Sense or twist lock closure. The logo is rather conspicuous but I'll get used to it. Not lightweight. Still glad I bought it.

Just what I needed for my Sony NEX 6 and 3 lens outfit. I keep the 18-55 on the camera and it holds the 16mm pancake and telephoto zoom. You can either zip it or use the velcro flap to secure things. The shoulder strap doesn't slip off.

I wanted a small camera bag to fit my Canon EOS M. This fit the bill perfectly. I carry the Camera 22mm kit lens, 50mm 1.8 MKII with Ef adaptor mounted to it. 2 xtra batteries and 3 xtra media cards, lens mount cap, rocket blower and lens cleaning rag all in this small bag. If you want to carry more stuff I suggest the F-5xb. If I want to carry a ton of gear than I would just carry my Canon 5D kit and a bunch of L-glass. I wanted a travel friendly take everywhere kit and this works great. If I have any negatives about the bag would say I do not like the zipper that opens the main compartment. I leave it unzipped most of the time.

A good, but not great design. It holds my Fuji X100s, extra batteries (several), and the usual odds and ends (glasses, filters, cell phones..._)

It would be a bit better design for my use if you could silence the Velcro (ala Think Tank) and if the front pockets were taller, so they would hold sunglasses, reading glasses, etc.

Never-the-less, for the price I don't know of anything that's better.

Comments about F-5XA Shoulder and Belt Bag, Small (Black):

Got this as a walk-around bag for a Leica M9 .Can't really say anything bad about it . The usual Domke quality , good quality canvas and hardware , nicely assembled .Instead of the usual removable inserts , this bag has a movable divider that can be used to split the main compartment into 2 . Main compartment lightly padded , with a solid floor .There's also 2 small , but usable pockets in the front , which get covered by the top flap . This secures via Velcro to the front of the bag . The main compartment zips closed , and is then covered by the flap.Comes with the standard Domke canvas shoulder strap which has 2 rubber strips woven into the shoulder to minimize slipping .
Here's what I've got in mine: Front compartments - Left , Nikon SB-30 flash ( the tiny one from about 15 years back , just fits) Right , spare battery and SD card . Main compartment , divided about 1/3 - 2/3 . Big section , M9 with Zeiss 28/2.8 , hood attached , gray card. Smaller section 75mm Summilux w/hood, placed vertically at rear of section . In front of that a 35/2 Summicron from the 1970's , hood mounted ; and a 50 2.5 Summilux with hood mounted one atop the other . Total weight loaded about 5 1/2 lbs. , I've had real good luck with Domke stuff , got 5 of their bags of varying sizes and they've all held up really well , the oldest must be 20 years old now ; all are still in use . I've found that canvas Domke bags 'break in ' with use , sort of like a pair of jeans . They get more flexible and conform to your body after being used for some time . They're also reasonably , but not totally waterproof so keep that in mind if your planning to encounter any tsunamis .
