My father bought this 10 years ago and its incredible how they can resist everything (in comparions with all of the others for the same price). They're durable, comfortable but the best thing is... this headphones SOUNDs SUPERB for the price A+

Recently i bought two pieces from this for two friends, they can't be believe the quality-price relationship (they are using for voice over recording).

I tested, im a radio producer with knowledge on music production and im sure that every singer, voiceover or producer needs this mandatorily on his/her studio, no matter if is home or pro.

I bought these to replace a set of Sony MDR-V600 that wore out. I am very familiar with this line of Sony cans. These, compared to the ones I've used over the past ten years seem a tad lighter, smaller... not cheaply built, but just not as much mass as they used to be.I am used to the flat frequ range and absolutely HATE headphones that bump up all that bass mess. I need a flat range to mix. So, no prob here.I use them for recording broadcast interviews and mix video. Not sure if they would be my first choice for music.I will say that if you are looking for a set that will block out external sounds..... these will not isolate. I'm fine with that as I don't have to constantly pull them off a ear to hear what people are saying.I don't have a problem with them... but I do agree that Sony could have knocked off $ by not using that ridiculous (wasteful) packaging it came in.

Comments about Sony MDR-7506 Headphones:

I use these at work as a software developer and they work great plugged directly into a MacBook Pro. The sound is very clear and they do block out some noise. They're fairly lightweight and comfortable enough for all day wear. I've been using Sennheiser HD 280 Pros for the past 5 years, and while they block more noise, the clarity on these Sony's is much better. In my opinion, I have upgraded by switching to Sony.

sound great but a little flemsy

Comments about Sony MDR-7506 Headphones:

I got these after trying many others because of so many good reviews. They really do sound great, very neutral clear and natural. I use them mostly for monitoring the main mix while jamming in a band on electronic drums. Sometimes the whole band wears them for a silent rehearsal. They do seem a bit flemsy though. Sometimes The cups swivel into reverse position when picking them up and the external wires on the earpiece seems risky, almost snagged them a couple times, but as long as you're careful they will last. After trying them a while I bought 2 more pairs for when people come that don't have their own so I know we're all hearing the same mix. A couple friends liked them better than what they had so they got their own too.

These headphones are not only extremely comfortable, but are great at blocking outside noise so one can focus on the task at hand. The sound emitted from this pair is clear and balanced. Well worth the purchase!

It's a standard for a reason

Comments about Sony MDR-7506 Headphones:

I use it mostly for editing. The sound reproduction is crisp and without artificial bass boosting which is more of a detriment if you are doing studio work.

I would recommend getting the auray deep earpads for added comfort if you do long sessions.

Comments about Sony MDR-7506 Headphones:

Though I'm not a audio guy, these headphones are the industry standard for monitoring audio for TV. Not too much bass -- you hear it as it should sound. And a reasonable price for the quality.

Wow

Comments about Sony MDR-7506 Headphones:

Very accurate headphones. Decent passive noice reduction. Don't expect to dj with these headphones though, they don't cancel enough noice to be super useful in a live loud environment.

Not the right headphones for my useage

By Gene

Comments about Sony MDR-7506 Headphones:

In my research, I read where these were legendary studio headphones. However, I need them for videos in a noisy atmosphere like interviewing people at noisy high school reunions, wedding receptions, etc., and need to block out the extraneous noise. So it was really my mistake that these were the incorrect headphones for my application. I was just too dumb to know I needed a noise cancellation headphone. Thanks to the B&H technical audio guru, he switched me over to Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7b-QuietPoint Active Noise-Cancelling C—closed-Back Headphones for $95—approximately only $15 more. Thus as soon as I get those late this week, I'll be returning the Sony MDR-7506 headphone that may be great in the studio, but was just not the right application for me. Wish I'd read someone else writing this information about a year ago. The lack of this knowledge cost me dearly in doing some jobs where I wasn't properly hearing the audio, or lack of audio, coming into the camcorder on another headphone that was even worse. Education is always a painful, trial and error, baptism by fire experience. I've gotten burned by lack of this knowledge so hope this review will save others my painful experience and embarrassment. Thank goodness for B&H personnel that can help us if we just ask them.

I do video productions for non-profit work so I need quality equipment at a reasonable price and these headphones fit the bill. Sony makes a quality product and these headphones are no exception.

Comments about Sony MDR-7506 Headphones:

I have limited experience using headphones, but I can tell you this, the Sony 7506 headset picks up and delivers pleasing details, throughout the frequency range, sounds not ever heard through my speakers. The sound comes out clean, natural, and uncolored.
