My father bought this 10 years ago and its incredible how they can resist everything (in comparions with all of the others for the same price). They're durable, comfortable but the best thing is... this headphones SOUNDs SUPERB for the price A+

Recently i bought two pieces from this for two friends, they can't be believe the quality-price relationship (they are using for voice over recording).

I tested, im a radio producer with knowledge on music production and im sure that every singer, voiceover or producer needs this mandatorily on his/her studio, no matter if is home or pro.

I bought these to replace a set of Sony MDR-V600 that wore out. I am very familiar with this line of Sony cans. These, compared to the ones I've used over the past ten years seem a tad lighter, smaller... not cheaply built, but just not as much mass as they used to be.I am used to the flat frequ range and absolutely HATE headphones that bump up all that bass mess. I need a flat range to mix. So, no prob here.I use them for recording broadcast interviews and mix video. Not sure if they would be my first choice for music.I will say that if you are looking for a set that will block out external sounds..... these will not isolate. I'm fine with that as I don't have to constantly pull them off a ear to hear what people are saying.I don't have a problem with them... but I do agree that Sony could have knocked off $ by not using that ridiculous (wasteful) packaging it came in.

Works well for bass guitar practice

By Bassman

Comments about Sony MDR-7506 Headphones:

Did some research on what bassist use for silent practice and the MDR-7506s were one of the models that came up more than once. I needed a headphone that would put up with the abuse of loud music and my bass guitar put through a mixer - blew up a pair of mid priced Koss phones. These appear to be holding up very well. Very comfortable to wear and a loud clean signal comes through nicely. Only thing I MIGHT change is the spiral cable.

Pro headphones

By Mike music & video

from Guilford, CT

Comments about Sony MDR-7506 Headphones:

I've used these for 17 yrs for both my video biz and as a pro musician for tracking in the studio. You see these in use in pictures of pro musicians in the studio. They are a little bright, but will get better if you just hook them to a stereo for about a week straight at moderate volume.
These headphones will work with the low volume 1/8" outputs on computers, laptops, iPads and even some phones, where my other favorite under $100 headphones the AKG 240 will not, as it needs a more powerful headphone amp to drive them.
BTW B&H carries the replacement leather like covered foam ear pads for these, which break down after a few years of use. They fit well and when you replace them it's like a new set!
I recommend these to my music students, fellow videographers & friends & they only need one quick listen to toss their ear buds! They are amazed how much of the music they were missing with those things!

A vintage clean sound

By walkman

Comments about Sony MDR-7506 Headphones:

First, thanks for the great service and fast shipment. Got it within a day. It wasn't easy to choose a headphone to buy since there are too many models and too many reviews of "experts" so I decided to choose the brand I know since the 80's and if it is good enough for the music industry then it is great for me. The sound is a very clean stereo kind with no unnecessary "special effects".

Great headphones.

Comments about Sony MDR-7506 Headphones:

Very surprised how good these sound. Clear highs and mids. Even decent lows. The cable is a bit long for hand held camera work. I have a Sony FS7, and the muffs bang against the camera body. But when on sticks or in studio, no issue.

Second Pair, Still Great

By dyerhaus

from San Jose, CA

Comments about Sony MDR-7506 Headphones:

I had been looking around for a great set of headphones for quite sometime. I had been considering such brands as Audeze, Telefunkin and Master & Dynamic. The big problem for me is it's almost impossible to "try before you buy" and other headphones I was looking at are $400+ (and that's a lot for something I'm not certain I'm going to like!!!). But then, I came to my senses and realized I should just get another pair of Sony MDR-7506 Headphones. I had a set of these about 15 year ago and loved them. I don't recall what happened to them, but I remembered how great they sounded. They're also so much more budget friendly. Once I received them, I plugged them in and listened to some music and they sounded just as great as I remembered. Crystal clear, accurate sound. That's why I want from a set of headphones, and that's exactly what I got with these.

Comments about Sony MDR-7506 Headphones:

After trying few headphones, that model was way above all, tried few music categories and the sound of that headphones is superb. The only thing is I wish it had a 3.5 socket so I can easily use it with a smartphone + case but the sound quality worth it.

Flat 'real-sounding' headphones

By 15Kstudios.com

from Sweden

Comments about Sony MDR-7506 Headphones:

The Sony Headphones are pretty flat sounding but with a slight treble flavor. Absolutely great for video and boom work when you don't want the 'enhanced' audio experience. They rest easy on you head and have the right amount of push and cushioning. The 'oldschool' cable looks the part, but I can imagine it getting tangled pretty easily. This far I'm really satisfied with buying them.

Loud and comfortable.

By AlexMa

Comments about Sony MDR-7506 Headphones:

I had an older set from way way back in the day. It was an easy choice to go back to the Sony's. The price was reasonable.

These have large 40mm drivers. The ear pieces also swivel slightly, just enough to make it easy to take on and off, not get int he way.

These give you full coverage around the ears. The coiled cord is long and loose. These are not tight coils. The jacket of the cord is not stiff. The cord is only on one side.

It comes with a bag and a 1/8-1/4 adapter.

There is great sonic clarity and volume. They are not heavy on the head. They hold tight even if you have them on one ear. Plenty of padding on the ear piece. I don't care who you go with, the headband and ear piece "suck" in the heat! Goes with the territory. That being said, these feel great!

Good sound quality

By Ricky Panjabi

from High Point

Comments about Sony MDR-7506 Headphones:

It provides sound of the source without enhancing any frequency. Which helps to determine the quality of the source. Although it appears to be a studio headphones I have tried using it at live video recording. I wish it had had detachable cord. So one could buy appropriate length for the purpose at this moment I feel the weight of coiled wire which is longer than necessary.

Sony MDR-7506 has it all... Just right.

By Ledsled

from Albany NY

Verified Buyer

Comments about Sony MDR-7506 Headphones:

Excellent frequency response at all volume levels. The lows are so much cleaner sounding with these headphones they blow away all other speakers in my house (including the Bose). The highs are crisp with just the right amount of brightness complementing the solid mid-range. Sony MDR-7506 headphones bring out every detail in the music usually hidden or muted by cheap headphones with poor frequency response that claim good numbers but fail to deliver in balance with the spectrum sounds being played all together. Very comfortable to wear for hours of listening enjoyment. Because they cover the entire ear with just the right amount of pressure for my average sized noggin, they stay put when I move quickly and keep my ears warm (It will be a bonus after summer).
Considering price vs. performance vs. comfort - Sony MDR-7506 has it all… Just right.
They only negative thought I have about these headphones is the wiring. Keep in mind these things are classic studio headphones designed many years ago and are still holding up to the competitions because of the sound, comfort & price. The cable is not detachable from the headset and the wires at the earphones are visible and appear fragile. See some of the reviews fix that with black tape. I will leave them be for maximum flexibility for folding up to stuff in the leather bag.
MDR-7506 is one of the best high performance headphones you can buy for less than $100.
