I bought this pack specifically for a 3 week trip through Europe. I needed a pack for my Nikon D300 (w/ grip), telephoto lens, 50mm lens, computer, and various electronics and cables.
After 'living' with the pack every day of the trip, I am very satisfied with it's design and performance. The pack probably weighed in at 20+ pounds fully loaded. The straps are comfortable and sturdy although I'm not a big fan of the sternum buckle and waist straps (wish I could disconnect the sternum buckle from the main straps). I tried using the 'fastpack' feature a couple of times but found that I didn't trust the overall stability (due to the weight I was carrying) in getting my camera out of the pack one-handed. It was not difficult to just set the pack down and safely remove the camera. The pack's contents are well protected from occasional rough handling. I only exposed the pack to light rain, so I can't comment on more extreme water protection.
It was easy to clear all security points (airports, museums, etc) with the pack and the outside pockets made it easy to access my travel documents. There is just enough room in the upper chamber to carry some extra clothes, if needed. The pack fit easily in overhead compartments on trains and airplanes.
I'm very satisfied with taking this pack on an extended trip.

Good Camera Backpack- some shortcomings

It was bought for a series of daytrips to photograph scenery, wild horses, birds, and dolphins. Camera equipment is a D3s with 20-70 mm and 80--400 mm lenses.

Lowepro makes a great camera bag. It is easy to use and easy to load and unload the camera or lenses, even on a moving boat. It is comfortable and can be worn for hours. The mesh back provides some air circulation in a warm environment.

However, the chest strap came loose only 4 days into a 2 week trip. It is not sewed on and is only a plastic clamp that loosely attaches to a roll of plastic on the shoulder strap. Were it not for this shortcoming, it would receive a higher rating.

Quality bag for those looking to carry quite a bit of gear!

Comments about Fastpack 350 Backpack (Black):

Quality product that is very functionally designed. Holds my dslr with a 70-200 f/2.8 with ease. It is a large bag, so know that ahead of time. I just flew on an American Airlines 737 and it did fit under the seat in front of me.

I used this pack constantly for two weeks at Disney in Orlando Florida paced with a lot of photo gear, lunch, snacks and drinks for the day. Carried a fair amount of weight and was easy to access gear and easy going through security checkpoints that are becoming part of life these days.

Comments about Fastpack 350 Backpack (Black):

Good quality, but surprisingly little storage for the physical size of the bag. I bought this figuring to use it as my camera bag and carry on: camera gear, laptop, maybe a sweatshirt, and a few other little items. You can forget the sweatshirt and probably the few other little items. There is also really nowhere to put my tripod (mefoto backpacker). I probably should have done a little more research before making this purchase.

Comments about Fastpack 350 Backpack (Black):

It's a well designed bag. I can put Canon 70-200 F2.8 attached to Canon 6D in the lower middle compartment and I can easily take it back with one zip.
I don't use laptop compartment most of the time as I'm not carrying my laptop for each shoot.
Bag is well built and straps are strong. Good deal for the price.

Comments about Fastpack 350 Backpack (Black):

So Far I love this pack. It truly does hold my 17" computer, and the pocket is against your back so the heavy computer weight is well balanced. The top area has lots of room for miscellaneous items when traveling or hiking. The camera space is good for a DSLR and a few lenses. It's all I want to carry for a long hike or travel. I'm a 5'3" woman and it is very comfortable to carry. My old pack was very nice but just too huge.

Great for Active Travelers

Comments about Fastpack 350 Backpack (Black):

I loved traveling around Disney in Orlando Florida for two weeks with this backpack; plenty of room on top for a cooler, lunch, snacks, drinks & a sweatshirt or jacket. The bottom is great for both protecting and carrying camera gear all day and was easy for inspection and getting past security check points. Backpack was good for heavy duty use and travel.

Firm and well designed

By Chulanga

Comments about Fastpack 350 Backpack (Black):

Space is managed well and the design is efficient.
My canon 6D attached with 70-200 F2.8L fits in to middle camera compartment and I can get it out without having to wrap out every thing, easily accessible while the bag is on one shoulder.
I can put 4 lenses of the size of 100mm F2.8L (or little bit wider) in the small four compartments. However I need 2 small compartments to put my Youngnuo YN 685. There are many small smart pockets for memory cards etc. The upper compartment having a good space to pack batteries and chargers.
Main drawback I see is it's not fashionable. it's just like a black bag. It has zero impact on the performance though.
The bag is firm and sufficiently strong. It's ok on the shoulders (it doesn't have the best comfort but as a camera back pack it's good).
I would recommend this to a friend.

large size lenses ? this is your pack

Comments about Fastpack 350 Backpack (Black):

I actually got a pack ... 2 packs ... that didn't work first. They all had convertible space, what you would expect - but if you have large/deep lenses - check the dimensions ! This pack is enough depth for my 6" L series lenses with adaptable space and 'sticky strips' to customize it. All of it's features work well with little pockets that just happen to match size of my battery, charger, memory cards with ample space in top compartment for speedlite and in my case, intervalometer. The weight of camera, lenses, and accessories is not significant so - getting the slightly larger pack made difference for me in a one shot solution: pack where I can easily store all my lenses, my Canon 6D, accessories, manuals - it even has slot for laptop. Great solution.

Comments about Fastpack 350 Backpack (Black):

Seems to be well made but after I got it and looked it over the internal layout and limited modification options just don't work for me. I like Lowe products but this one just has too many silly things going on with poorly laid out zippers, flips, flaps and only a couple of tiny pockets. Went to return it, but the B&H RMA required me to pay the return freight, which was half the cost of the bag. Not happy. Will keep it, chop it apart to make something more useful to me, and not put quite so much faith in B&H. This might work for someone who just wanted to carry around a lot of big photo gear....but I have a suspicion even they may have a hard time loving the way this thing works.

Comments about Fastpack 350 Backpack (Black):

I am approaching my 5th year of using thus bag and boy has it traveled. 15 cross-Atlantic flights and hundreds of hiking miles. I like the two good sized sections that allow its use as an overnight or weekend bag. Lots of variations for safely carrying all your camera gear with padded velcro partitions. Currently carrying Sony a6000 with 4 lenses, flash, batteries, chargers and filters etc. I feel confident that I will get a further 5 years from this backpack. Only one minor downside is that it is not fully waterproof.

Good camera/laptop bag

By Stefan

Comments about Fastpack 350 Backpack (Black):

Fastpack 350 is a really well made and versatile backpack. It can easily hold a DSLR with several lenses and accessories, plus a laptop (15") and some extra items.

The padding in the main (camera) compartment is enough to protect your gear from some serious bumps and hits, and the rigid structure of the bag will protect it from rough handling (e.g. when flying). The dividers are removable, however, there are very few ways to rearrange them, so it may not work for you if you want to use it for something other than a camera (such as a drone). Under normal configuration the camera can be accessed by partially unzipping the main compartment, while the rest of your gear stays protected.

The laptop compartment fits a 15.4" computer, but it gets little tight if you want to add a lap desk (a small one with an extending mouse pad). Even though it all fits, it takes little bit of wiggling to get it in. It would probably be easier if the zipper was little bit longer.

The top compartment can hold some extra camera gear or any miscellaneous items. It is spacious enough to fit a tablet, couple books, chargers, cables and anything else you may need during the day, but it is not big enough for extended travel. There are few pen/accessory pockets in this compartment, as well as a removable (Velcro) pouch that helps organize loose cables or other small items.

The two exterior pockets can hold few more small items, and the mesh pocket is the right size for most water bottles. Shoulder straps are quite comfortable and offer a lot of adjustment. There is a waist belt and a chest strap, although you should not need those unless you plan on carrying heavier loads and/or traversing difficult terrain.

Overall build quality is really good and it should last for years, although it is quite heavy at about 4 pounds. It may not be that much under normal circumstances, but some airlines are strict about carry-on weight, so every ounce counts if you plan on flying a lot.

The snap closures are difficult to unlock and unlock. Lowe is usually top notch quality and the rest of the bag is true to their reputation but the snap closures are of poor quality.

Comments about Fastpack 350 Backpack (Black):

Haven't had this backpack but a couple weeks but it is everything I needed and more. The bottom compartment will hold my Canon 7D with battery pack and EFS 17-55 lens attached, my EF 70-200 lens, a nifty 50 and battery charger with room to spare. The top compartment has my Speedlite and various accessories like lens cleaner, cleaning cloths, memory cards and a lot of room left over. The laptop compartment will easily hold my 17" laptop. Other areas for manuals, pens, pencils or whatever.
