I bought this pack specifically for a 3 week trip through Europe. I needed a pack for my Nikon D300 (w/ grip), telephoto lens, 50mm lens, computer, and various electronics and cables.
After 'living' with the pack every day of the trip, I am very satisfied with it's design and performance. The pack probably weighed in at 20+ pounds fully loaded. The straps are comfortable and sturdy although I'm not a big fan of the sternum buckle and waist straps (wish I could disconnect the sternum buckle from the main straps). I tried using the 'fastpack' feature a couple of times but found that I didn't trust the overall stability (due to the weight I was carrying) in getting my camera out of the pack one-handed. It was not difficult to just set the pack down and safely remove the camera. The pack's contents are well protected from occasional rough handling. I only exposed the pack to light rain, so I can't comment on more extreme water protection.
It was easy to clear all security points (airports, museums, etc) with the pack and the outside pockets made it easy to access my travel documents. There is just enough room in the upper chamber to carry some extra clothes, if needed. The pack fit easily in overhead compartments on trains and airplanes.
I'm very satisfied with taking this pack on an extended trip.

Good Camera Backpack- some shortcomings

It was bought for a series of daytrips to photograph scenery, wild horses, birds, and dolphins. Camera equipment is a D3s with 20-70 mm and 80--400 mm lenses.

Lowepro makes a great camera bag. It is easy to use and easy to load and unload the camera or lenses, even on a moving boat. It is comfortable and can be worn for hours. The mesh back provides some air circulation in a warm environment.

However, the chest strap came loose only 4 days into a 2 week trip. It is not sewed on and is only a plastic clamp that loosely attaches to a roll of plastic on the shoulder strap. Were it not for this shortcoming, it would receive a higher rating.

Big and handy for all photo work

Comments about Fastpack 350 Backpack (Black):

I got this on sale, didn't think much about it. But I'm using it more and more. Big lower area for the camera equipment, large upper area for soft items, snacks, etc, and large area zipper area for laptop.

Cons - no rain cover (first time with Lowepro? WTH), unable to customize the dividers, no tripod mounting. Unfortunately these are all included with Lowepro other more expensive lines. I guess it's cheaper for a reason.

If you want something simple that holds a lot of equipment for a hike, this is a good option for the price.

Good, but room for improvement

Comments about Fastpack 350 Backpack (Black):

A well built bag. It is big enough to carry all my camera gear and is easier on the back than a shoulder bag. I wish the waist strap was removable however, don't need it all the time and it gets in the way. I thought I could use it for a day bag, but it turns out not to be so good for that either, it's a bit on the heavy side and quite stiff, due to the camera compartment foam. I'm not sure about the side open feature to access the camera. It seems a bit prone to zipper failure or lazy closing, and you either lose the camera to falling out or theft. Hasn't happened yet, but seems possible

Comments about Fastpack 350 Backpack (Black):

DSLR camera w/ 70-200 attached lens fits well which is what I was looking for. Can't beat the value for quality. Four stars because it doesn't look as cool as the tactical version.

Fastback 350

Comments about Fastpack 350 Backpack (Black):

Excellent pack, room for my dslr with one lens, two go pros, and charging equipment. The upper compartment is large enough to hold my lunch bag, the laptop compartment is large and secure. I also liked the waist belt. There isn't much outside attachments to get hung up on things which makes it good for the subway or train. My favorite part is the side access pocket which makes it easy to grab the camera for a quick shot.

The camera bag is a tad big for my camera and lens set but the pros are recommending the extra room for supplies of a daily hike.

Nice bag

Comments about Fastpack 350 Backpack (Black):

It is a nice bag at a great price. It has room for a full frame camera and a couple of extra lens and other accessories. It has a separate padded slot for a laptop/tablet. It also has another pocket/room for other small items. I can use this bag as a combination camera and backpack as well. It is good for travel when you are limited to the number of bags you can carry on in a plane. However, I am a little surprised that this Fastpack 350 has less amenities than the Fastpack 250, which also has the straps for carrying a tripod and straps to wrap the bag around the pull up handle of a roll-on carry on suitcase. But these are relatively minor details for me, and I am satisfied with the Fastpack 350.

Comments about Fastpack 350 Backpack (Black):

This review is after using this bag for few months. It's great for a general purpose photographic journey. Gears can be stored safely. The bag is strong. I have travelled to Sri lanka for a week with this bag filled with 17" laptop, Canon 5DMIII+Sigma 85mm F1.4 Art (very heavy lens) + Sigma 35mm F1.4 Art + Canon 50mm F1.4 + Canon 24-105 F4L + Flash + filters and etc. Complete package was 10kg ++. The bag was strong enough to hold them tight. However, Straps are not comfortable enough to carry that much of weight.

Nice but bad zippers

Comments about Fastpack 350 Backpack (Black):

Love the bag. I've had it for 4 or 5 years. Use it maybe twice a year for about 10-12 days at a crack. Great design. Very practical but during my recent trip, the zipper to the top compartment broke. The teeth broke. Very disappointed because one, I figure it should last longer than that and two, other than this issue, it's a great bag.

Just what I wanted.

Comments about Fastpack 350 Backpack (Black):

This is just what I needed. My lowepro fastpack 150 wp is great, but just too small. This bag is the same design only bigger. The only difference is this does not include the rain cover. Being new old stock at a fantastic price is just icing on the cake.

Comments about Fastpack 350 Backpack (Black):

Quality product that is very functionally designed. Holds my dslr with a 70-200 f/2.8 with ease. It is a large bag, so know that ahead of time. I just flew on an American Airlines 737 and it did fit under the seat in front of me.

I used this pack constantly for two weeks at Disney in Orlando Florida paced with a lot of photo gear, lunch, snacks and drinks for the day. Carried a fair amount of weight and was easy to access gear and easy going through security checkpoints that are becoming part of life these days.
