I put my Vortex Razor HD 16-48x65 spotting scope with a PhoneSkope and my iPhone 7 plus, and it worked wonderfully. I also used the Vortex Bluetooth Shutter Release that I think is an absolute must in these situations. I am using a lightweight Carbon Fiber Tripod, and if you're zoomed in to 40 power, you're going to get camera shake. I was able to get a nice shot of the moon.

I purchased this head to shoot video with my Canon T3i DSLR. With either my 18mm-135mm or 10mm-20mm lenses, the camera will flop forward unless the tilt drag is set firmly enough to prevent it, which then prevents smooth motion. I have been getting by with releasing the drag for shooting, and snugging it up again when the camera is idle. Looking to improve this situation, I have ordered the 701HDV to replace it, as the 701HDV has a spring balance system, as well as the ability to adjust the camera mounting position to achieve balance.
This may not be an issue with a camcorder, but anyone looking to use a DSLR with this head should consider the above.

Just right head if your camera is not too heavy.

Comments about Manfrotto 128RC QR Micro Fluid Head:

Using this type of head for more than 15 years. Even larger and heavier videocameras such sony z7 were sitting safe on this head. easy to put camera on and remove. No need for more heavier head.

Repeat buyer, doubly pleased

Comments about Manfrotto 128RC QR Micro Fluid Head:

This is my second 128RC QR Micro Fluid Head, and I used a similar Manfrotto fluid head at an earlier job. They are a great improvement over most still photography heads when making videos, particularly when panning, tracking birds, or tracking aircraft. The one limitation is that they won't point straight up. The QR mount has no problem holding my Tamron 150-600 zoom with a DSLR. Classify me as a serious amateur, wanna-be pro.

A decent, smooth head - as long as it's not cold.

Comments about Manfrotto 128RC QR Micro Fluid Head:

Good features: Smooth independent pan and tilt. Adjustable handle angle. Quick-detach plate and locking lever are solid and dependable.

Not-so-good: When temperature dips below 30F, the motion becomes stiff and there is some wobble. Below 20F and it becomes annoying.

I will probably avoid using this head in colder temps.

Comments about Manfrotto 128RC QR Micro Fluid Head:

I bought a MeFoto GlobeTrotter carbon fiber tripod for use on international travel trips. I use a Canon DSLR setup with a 5DMkiii and some of the heavier L series lenses. I found the ball head that came with the MeFoto tripod to be insufficient in handling the weight of the camera and found significant slippage after locking down a shot.

I purchased this tripod head at the last minute before a trip and headed on the road without much chance to test it. I've had a very consistent experience with Manfrotto gear and was expecting a durable, quality product. This performed extremely well in the field! From easily packing in my luggage, to quick installation on the legs, and smooth operation in the field... this head was exactly what I needed for the field.

The MeFOTO Globetrotter carbon fiber legs and the Manfrotto 128QR Micro Fluid Head are now my go to setup for travel video work. It is a lightweight setup that is easily torn apart for compact packing and operates well in the field.

Comments about Manfrotto 128RC QR Micro Fluid Head:

I am an amateur weekend videotographer and needed something better to use to record my daughter's violin recital. The old tripod and head was a Velbon from the 90's. I could never get a smooth pan and tilt as it always came out jerky. After looking at reviews and considering the price point and purpose of use I settled on the Manfrotto 128 RC. After using it on a couple of occasions it is so easy to pan and tilt smoothly and the size for my canon vixia HFS100 is perfect. I guess the one thing that would be useful is a small level other than that I highly recommend it.

Comments about Manfrotto 128RC QR Micro Fluid Head:

I recently picked up this Manfrotto 128RC QR head to use as a relatively compact, simple, not too expensive video head. So far I'm very pleased. Both panning and tilting are very smooth and tension is good.

It's a very simple head, no tension adjustment or counterbalance. It does have pan and tilt locks and they work well. I don't find myself missing tension adjustment, mainly because the tension out of the box suits me just fine.

I do find myself wishing it had a counter balance system. But I think you'd be hard pressed to get a similar quality, size and capacity head with that feature for similar money.

        Overall I'm very satisfied.

Manfrotto products are almost never the cheapest, but they are the best. Only received 4 stars because in this instance the price difference between this head and all other heads was so wide. It could be less expensive to be more competitive.

I've been using this head now for about a month. It performs well for smaller Pro camcorders. Very smooth panning and tilting. I like the quick release head. I can shoot by hand then put it on the tripod quickly. This is important for my documentary video. Although it's not perfect for heavier camcorders, it works well for my needs.

Comments about Manfrotto 128RC QR Micro Fluid Head:

I bought this head to replace a ball head on my old Bogen tripod. I mounted it without any problems. I've used it a few times now with my Canon XA-20. Panning is very fluid and smooth, although you must be careful how snug the pan screw is. If its too loose you"ll pan too quickly. For the money it does a good job. If you're looking for a good head for small camcorders this will work great. If you do a lot of pans and want more control over pan speed, look for something else.

Comments about Manfrotto 128RC QR Micro Fluid Head:

I was very pleasantly surprised when this arrived at my door. I have multiple video heads for larger rigs but had ordered this "micro" head exclusively for use on a video monopod I'd recently purchased. I had INTENDED to use a small DSLR only, Canon SL1 or 70D based on my expectation of a small "micro" head.

What I got was a very robust, extremely well made, all metal head with very smooth panning and movement that I've actually had my 5D3/7D2 and heavy 24 L,50 L and 85 L primes all balanced on easily with no issue. I actually like this head better than the older 701 head I'd been using with my 7D. Don't get me wrong, this head does NOT offer the stability of the larger 501 series nor is it intended to. But in a pinch, I'd have no issue putting my heavier cam/lens combos on this head. The quick release works very well, very secure. I ordered a second plate so I could switch cameras quickly. I would say the 8.75 capacity is quite accurate as many times I feel like heads/legs wobble at half their claimed capacity. I'll use it primarily with the 70D or the 7D Mark II and the new lightweight 50mm STM or the 35 f/2 IS which is also lighter than the L primes.

So far after using this about a month, I don't have anything negative to say about this. It is always nice to have a purchase exceed expectations, this definitely did.

The head is a little bigger and heavier than I expected it to be as a micro head but it's very well balanced and silky smooth. I've tried the Benro S2 hybrid and it was nice but not nearly as fluid and smooth as the Manfrotto. I have two larger Manfrotto heads and all of the them are exceptional. I feel like I will be staying with this brand for fluid heads in the future.

I wanted something not too pricy to go on the Manfrotto 055 XV tripod I picked up on @. I wanted the combo mainly for a Alpen spotting scope to watch the Sandhill Cranes that nest on our lake each year. This head is sheer perfection! Movement is fluid in all directions and it is very sturdy, with the scope and with my Pentax K-30. I'm very pleased with this purchase!
