It Works

Comments about Hoya 72mm HD UV Filter:

It works as intended. In my experience, it's worthwhile to pay extra for filters with multi-coating to avoid ghost reflections from bright light sources on dark backgrounds. I ran a test under those conditions and got some lens flare, but no difference with and without the filter. So the multi-coating is doing its job.

Comments about Hoya 72mm HD UV Filter:

I mainly use this filter as a protective barrier for my 72mm lenses. This was one of the smartest investments I have made, since optically it is extremely clear but it adds that extra layer of protection to the lens. I would rather lose a $ filter than a $ lens any day.

Comments about Hoya 72mm HD UV Filter:

I have always used the Hoya HD UV filters for years, just bought a new 50mm lens and wanted to protect it and keep the lens clean. It's tough, clear, love them. I always keep one on all my lens to protect them from dirt and scratches.

Seems to do what it's suppose to which is improve the quality of your pictures in sharpness , at least it seems that way to me. It also protects your glass . Seems reasonably priced for a HIGH quality filter.

The buid quality is high comparing to others filters I have (marumi, B+W, Hoya, Kenko). I'm having it for a week so I cannot tell more. It's made in Japan and the packagind is HQ. I hope it worths its place: in front of my new Nikon 105 f2 DC.There is no image quality drop @ 36MP (Nikon d800) so I'm happy with it. When in sale it worths the money.

I'm very happy with the build quality of this filter; it does what it's supposed to do. The metal used looks and feels better than that used in, e.g., Tiffen filters. Low-profile design makes it easy to use other filters without taking this one off. Would recommend.

4/5 because the HD2 has stronger glass if you're in the market for ultimate protection. This model is optically clear, fits well and doesn't bind when threading.

Comments about Hoya 72mm HD UV Filter:

I already had an inexpensive UV filter on my Sigma 18-55 mm lens. After receiving in the mail the Hoya UV Haze HD filter, I took a series of similar shots with each filter. I was surprised to observe greater clarity of detail and better contrast between sun-lit areas and shaded areas with the Hoya filter. I found that it also supports other filters (Hoya or not) on top of it just fine. I don't see a downside to this still relatively affordable UV filter.

Great UV filter. Perfect for protecting the front element of my Canon 35mm 1.4L. Build quality is great and appears to be rugged and can take a good beating. Mounts with no problem and cap goes over with no problem as well. I think its a bit pricey for a piece of glass. I wish it came with a better carrying case than the standard plastic one. Haven't noticed it affecting my picture quality.
